and instead of wiping it just format the drive, sometimes if you just delete everything on it "digital residue" still resides on the drive which could goof stuff up during the installation process.
It's probably from it being installed over and over. Maybe try wiping the drive you installed Win 10 on and try again?
windows support dude told me to do that, so i did it

didnt help my case

lordy, must be your Win 10 ISO, that's all I can conclude it as. Format the USB stick you're using and then re-download the ISO onto it. If you're using a CD then just try a USB stick anyways

What is the computer hardware? I've had some laptops that will have seemingly unfixable issues installing newer versions of windows, but will of course install the version they were designed for just fine.

dude I have no clue, I just want to play Witcher 3 already without it crashing 5 min in ;~;
welcome to Win 10, where installing it on a fresh drive is your only option, cause then we'll force update your current one and break your stuff.
Your stuff maybe overheating and crashing. Duno
Check your temps when gaming

nah trust me everythings fine, already checked them during and afterwards.

It's definitely a problem with the recent driver 368.39 because right after this was released a lot of people started having the same problems I'm having. People were telling me I got a faulty card which is possible but I haven't seen anything pointing towards my card being faulty.

also these kids at the Nvidia forums are still giving me stuff:

"No amount of knowledge, great or small, — or experience — will ever prevent you from receiving a faulty piece of hardware straight out of the box. That knowledge might help you find it, though.

But I guess you knew that as well, being the infallible Pro here...

Was there any kind of install cd included? Those usually have stable drivers(although possibly outdated)

Try the linustechtip forums

no, you usually download the drivers through GeForce Experience which is what I did. What's weird is I have these drivers on my 960 and no problems whatsoever, but then people with the 970 above are having these problems.

I actually went through that already but nothing there helped :c

what's funny is the dynamic between the GeForce forums and LTT forums

GeForce:
"Your hardware is faulty and needs replacing, oh, nothing points towards faulty hardware but rather bad drivers? Then you don't know what you're doing and should stick to pre-builts"

LTT:
"Yeah the new drivers are stuff, everyone's having these problems now"

fuking thank u LTT, ye beutiful basterds

since my mom doesn't have enough money to buy the gpu for my build
my dad added a gtx 260 until i get the 960
should i stick with it or should i swap with my gt 730?
i have 0 money and i won't be able to buy any of the gtx 1k series because they're too much expensive for the budget i have

all of the parts are bought and installed (except the gpu)
