A Sci Fi RP

Hello everyone, seeing how everyone has a focus on land wars, limited technology and barely on any space kind of thing. I thought I'd create one. It's my personal special interest in all honesty. This RP will be about space exploration, trade, politics, wars. Possibilities are endless. I will be the "game master" and I will dictate what happens, my word is last. I will however not partake in any way or form. I must stay neutral (sadly).

I really hope this catches your attention and that people will play. I am open for suggestions that you may have.

The Story

Earth and humanity, upon discovering a wormhole had made a large move to unknown reaches of space. The wormhole lasted for a while. Many people settled the systems beyond the wormhole. The space beyond the wormhole was at first unsettled. Welcoming, peaceful, full of resources. Something Earth and humanity needed.

However. They never expected the wormhole to close it self and to seal away the two entities which were Earth and the newly discovered far reaches of space. Not much was acomplished. A cataclysmic failure is all it was. Within a week. Milions died. Stations which were deployed and planets colonized were unhospitable. There was a lack of generic resources in terms of food and water.

The few that survived banded together in different corners of newly discovered space. They tried contacting Earth but it failed. The distance was too great. And even if the message had gone trough it would take a very long time for it to reach Earth. Sadly. Even if it reached Earth, there is nothing that could be done. The wormhole was unique, one of a kind, each wormhole takes you to a different place. That is a gamble Earth is not willing to take anymore.

Abandoned, lost, stranded, the few survivors form small groups, which will arrise into factions and empires or corporations and alliances. Perhaps coalitions. The choice is yours. Welcome to New Haven. Ironically it will prove to be anything but a haven.


Starting Out

You can start out like this:

- Stranded Small Colonial Armada: - Can settle a planet
                                                      - Travels only short distances
                                                      - Very limited attack and defense capabilities

                                                      - Can build living space and resource extraction on planet
                                                      - Moderate Food and Water
                                          
- Stranded on a mining planet: - Starts out on a hostile planet
                                                 - Very developed resource aquirement in terms of ore and minerals
                                                 - Food and Water issues
                                                 - Mining colony basic rocket launcher defense
                                                 - Active hostile enviroment shield
                                                

- Station Survivors: - Science and Industry Department - Can research and develop, start out with ship blueprints, no minerals or ore
                               - Medical Facilities - For healing and experimenting
                               - Hangars
                               - Defensive Space Rocket Launchers
                               - Market area
                               - Limited Food and Water
                               - Low population

- Stranded Space Explorers: - Can detect things others may not by scanning systems
                                             - Can travel long distances
                                             - Can not colonize
                                             - Limited food and water
                                             - Moderate attack and defense capabilities

- Stranded War Fleet: - High attacks and defense capabilities
                                   - Very limited food and water
                                   - Can travel moderate distances
                                   - Can not colonize
                                   - Can not mine
                                   - Exploration capabilities are limited in terms of scanning and finding

- Stranded Mining Fleet: - Resource aquirement made easy from various asteroid belts in space
                                       - Moderate food and water
                                       - No offensive or defensive capabilities
                                       - Weak ships , high cargo space

Things you should know

Everyone can unlock and get anything. The starting capabilities will dictate how the game plays for some time.
However. Anything is possible. You can wage war from day 1. You don't have to be a space empire. You can be a group of space pirates or mercs. Whatever you want. Or even a corporation. You can even form a protective force and act as police.

It's all about the decisions you make, the things you discover and how well you plan your strategy. Pay close attention to your starting capabilities if you have questions PM me. I'm certain you noticed that the limited starting capabilities will force you to work together. Which is good in my opinion.

You name the system you start in. Select it on the map I will post below. New Haven is a big place. System travel is difficult. You have to fly from system to system. There are no jumps. Yet. (You'll have to research it).

You may come across various things, such as NPC groups.

Basic rules

- No powergame.
- No metagame.
- No asspuling. (I.E "we research dis and build dat without collecting resources or having blueprints)
- No offensive OOC behavior.
- New Haven is unexplored, dangerous, be ready for surprises and loses.
- Currency is ISK.
- Fuel for all ships is deuterium.
- Basic construction mineral is tritanium.
- I reserve the right to expand the rules as I please.
- PM me for your starting outfit upon picking it. It is supposed to be randomized.

Wolf Company. After the closing of the wormhole. Found themselves "defecting" from the EarthGov which was on the other side of the said wormhole. Many believed that EarthGov left them to fend for them selves. Or such the crew believes. While little of the population onboard the few ships who know a tad more about the space believe that the wormhole had closed it self.

None the less. The fleet found it self where it was two months back. Poinen. A mining system. Known for hemorphite and it's unique abandoned mining colony of the said hemorphite. The hemorphite being a very valuable ore. But that is as much as the wolf companies knowledge extends.

They don't have any means of collecting it however. The abandoned colony could be searched for food and water.
The colony is flying in space around the hemorphite asteroids. Powered down. No lights or signs of power are seen.

Last time they were in Poinen, it was full of life and were guarding the wormhole to EarthGov. Now, not so much. The system contains five gas planets, one storm, one ice, one barren planet.

Wolf Company docks on the colony, a thorough search begins.  Anything that moves will be treated as hostile until proven otherwise.

Wolf Company finds the whole colony in complete and utter darkness. The shutters are down and there is a horrible stench streaching troughout the colony. The doors are sealed tight. The power has to be restored first. It has been misteriously turned off.

A search party is able to find the external power generators, and activates them.  Their status as military operatives grants them immediate access to the facility.

Upon the restoration of power the colony computer sounds off.

"Warning: Quarantine lockdown."

"Warning: Quarantine lockdown."

The doors are still locked.

Ahh, I hope I'm doing this right. Ive never done anything like this.

Background: The AFR was originaly founded by Michael Young, a leading scientist on Earth, for the sole purpose of discovering and researching many of the unknown things in the universe. As the space age slowly began, the AFR slowly began their research in weapons and shielding technology. Now, the AFR is world renowned for their production of top-quality weapons and ships, leaving the "Research" part of their name behind.

When I say type of group I mean, pirates/mercs/soldiers/civilians/miners etc.
When I say starting fit I mean one of the predesigned starting choices of fits aka equipment.

Starting Fit: Stranded Space Explorers.
Motto: "The radar is your best friend."

Starting area(point out on map): Edges of unexplored New Haven space, in a region called Providence.
Starting system name(optional): KBP-7

Background(optional): A small group of friends and co-workers turned into a ship searching for spare parts. Scrapping whatever they can find while trying to keep both themselves and their wallets full, at first glance they don't have much to deal with. Beneath the surface, the ship isn't the healthiest, most of the crew has mental issues, and overall they're struggling to keep the ship running on fumes.

Assets(PM me, await my response, then edit):
Noctis - A ship designed only for salvaging. No fighting capabilities. It is outfitted with three salvage turrets, five tractor beams. Additionally it has five salvage drone. Three of them are fairly damaged.
The ship is fairly slow and can be easily destroyed. But it is a glorious money maker when it comes to scrap.
