- There are only 10 clients so far, so average CPU usage is about 6%, according to Performance Monitor logs.
- It's a completely free service with no waiting lists like CBMhost. Your account gets set up within 24 hours.
- If you want more control panel features and a higher CPU priority, you can pay $3.50/month for premium access.
- We offer auto save and console.log archiving for premium users. CBMhost and Kaphost do not have this.
Just read the HamHost forum topic for more information. Just because
- I have an average of 35% CPU usage with 20 servers, and that's with players on at least 4 of them as well.
- The waiting list is for a reason, I refuse to add more clients than the server can handle. Technically, it can handle more than what I have right now, but I'm allowing headroom for when servers get 50+ players on them (Raven's FT) or multiple servers with a lot of players, as that dramatically increases average CPU, hard disk and RAM usage. I hope you have been taking that into account when you add clients.
- All my features are available for free, and I plan on adding more soon. I have nothing against premium service, but as Matthew said, there's not much you gain with it.
- I do have an auto-saver that archives saves standard with all my servers, however the archive is limited at this point. And, I also have a logger that logs chat, admin bans and unbans along with player connections as well. I'm going to be implementing full console logging that includes console errors in an upcoming update.
Hammer, I'm going to give you a few words of advice. Do not go around saying your service is better than someone else's service. Let your customers decide that for themselves. State to them what you have and can do, but no more. If you do have the better service, customers will come to you, trust me. I own my own part time repair business IRL that started out with a couple hundred dollars per year of business and now does several thousand dollars per year in repair services.
One of the big things I found out running it: they will come to you if you can show that you can do a good job. It may take awhile, but they do come. The other big thing I found:
never brag and play up what you can do. It's tempting to brag about what you have (I've been there), but if you do, you will have to live up to that and if you can't you will lose a lot of face. You've had two past failures at hosting services, so the ground on which you stand isn't the steadiest. I will repeat this:
Let your customers decide if the service is good for themselves. I never even posted my service on here let alone advertised it (though if my customers wanted to post who they were hosting their server with in their topic, I was fine with that) and I have 20 clients with 5 more waiting, all because people who had my service recommended their friends, who in turn recommended theirs and so on.
Sorry for the long winded post, but you have been trying to compete pretty heavily with my service both publicly and privately and I do not see any reason for that or any gain from it. And, judging from the latest posts in your thread, I'd say you are already having problems. The customers will make or break you, focus on running your service well and let the customers sing your praises for you.
