Author Topic: YouTube overhauls comments and links them to Google+  (Read 29439 times)

no don't loving link me random videos that you didn't make
what exactly is the problem that you have with it

pretty sure it speaks for itself when the top comments are trolls, snakees, and screamer links. it's stuff.

and, random videos? you really are handicapped. these people do youtube for a living. they are the people this change is affecting the most. pewdiepie, #1 subscribed on youtube, shut his comments down because this new system is trash. I think he's a friend but he made a good choice.

this is a problem with the people who use YouTube

On an American keyboard perhaps. We are not all American. On a Nordic keyboard it's 6 and &.

oh yeah zeblote is german

tbh the only bad thing about it is not being able to link times in the video (still not a huge deal). unlimited characters is stupid, but you dont have to click "view all"
that's the problem: on the app, they are automatically unhidden, and you can't hide them

having links in the YouTube comment section is no different from having links in any other comment section
if somebody posts trap links elsewhere then suddenly that entire site is horrible?

What's really annoying for me is how the stupid "Welcome to new youtube google plus comments" quote tab thing keeps popping up EVERY SINGLE TIME I go to a new youtube video. Really annoying.

hm, i haven't noticed a change yet

They changed the likes/dislikes bar, as well as the thumbs up/down buttons. Doesn't effect normal uses too much, but I use a userstyle to change the entire look of the website, so this broke it. I know, again this wouldn't bother most of you. I've told the userstyle creator and he'll apply a fix. :o

Since the update, I fell for a screamer for the second time in my life. Seriously, forget GOOGLE.

They also removed time links again, probably permanently. The comment section used to be part of the actual page, but now it is an iframe of a Google APIs page. AKA the comment section is actually a different website displayed within the page. Comment links worked by opening the same URL but with # parameters such as #t=1213s or what have you. Now that it is an iframe, browsers see the link and can't make a connection to the topmost webpage. Essentially, the browser sees this as a new URL and opens it in a new page.

Point being that browsers can't work with the old method of times in comments. They'd have to create some hacky handing around, if anything, which probably wouldn't work globally across all browsers. They seriously forgeted themselves with this new system.

The only bad things about this update is how time links are broken and how everybody is spamming the comments with "change back to the old comments system plz", which is more annoying than anything else.

I saw a video claiming Polaris was contacted by YouTube saying they will be fixing some major issues, one of them being an option to completely disable URLs in comments. Not sure how that's turning out.
