I'm streaming again, probably gonna be pretty short. I'm coding a space game like

Not going to discuss the game design until we've built prototypes, but we're definitely working on my first-person physics game. We found a very interesting angle in terms of the story; it's a bunch of "freedom fighters" (sort of, I'm trying to be a little secretive) vs. a Government agency (sort of), and you're right in the middle of it.

Tomorrow is a big day; I'm presenting my story treatment, gameplay proposal and also marking the various (now outdated) concept art pieces our art guys have been working on. If all goes well, we should even have a basic level design down on paper by the end of the meeting.

The great things about this assessment is that it's been an excuse for me to study nuclear/quantum physics. Our game will obviously be using faked/hollywood/fictional physics, but it's nice to take some interesting concepts away and use them to drive the story into fun places.

EDIT: To clarify, about 2 weeks ago we all had the final vote on the game we were going with, and we decided on the physics game (much to the annoyance of the animator who came up with the school idea). Since then, my friend and I have gone through about 3 different iterations of the high-level mechanic design, and many, many more iterations of the story. I think we both are finally happy with where the game is going now.
nice!
for a moment i thought you guys were going for the gravity school escape lol

We discussed combinations, but ultimately decided:

A) It was entertaining to see that animator upset his idea wasn't chosen.

AND MORE IMPORTANTLY

B) The stealth gameplay was not going to be as fun as a fast-paced puzzle shooter where you can split a guy in half using science.

Woha! Now this thread is cool!

Practical problems. yes, that ; is an error I corrected l8r
Also,

spaceship yay

at first I was trying to make a space roguelike with some forgeted up rules. i gave up when i tried to understand trigonometry.
now im trying to make a roguelike based on rotondos the forgettable dungeon.

Hey guys.

I've been using Unity for a while, and have succeeded in creating this sandbox game.

I can work on it for fun, but since it is based on an IP, I can't really sell it.

I came up with an idea for a mobile game I hope to actually sell. Currently, I can't decide whether to use Unity (what I'm used to), or Unreal (what I'm just now starting to learn).

You'll want to use unity 5 for a mobile game. It works on basically all mobile devices and doesn't require much performance compared to unreal.

Of course that still depends on the game but mobile games tend to have a simple style and it's great for that.

You'll also get to the fun part faster as you already know how to use it from your last game.

This game does show potential as a well-made indie game, 8/10 in my personal opinion. One piece of constructive criticism though: It did feel rather awkward getting the bricks to go exactly where I wanted them to be. Maybe a grid-based ground texture might make building easier and more user-friendly! I added the game to my browser's bookmarks so I can see new additions and changes later!

Thanks, I've starting coding the meat of it in Unity.

Thank you! There are studs on the ground, but they aren't very visible. Maybe I will change the texture.
