what is that text editor, it is forgetin lovey
it could be just about any text editor that has syntax highlighting

It's Sublime Text, most likely. I like Atom more, though.

I disliked Atom because I couldn't figure out how to make a simple build system, in Sublime I can just ctrl+b and it's going to use a custom build file and run my game quickly.

We need more games that can have you shooting billions of projectiles into the sky that come raining down decimating your enemies
My favourite way of doing it is in Terraria, grab a shotbow and fill it up with hellfire arrows and start firing into the sky, i gaurantee everything around you will die (including you if you're not careful) it's even more hillarious in PvP
As soon as i get my new computer i am going to get to work on learning unity and creating a small game with cool guns

There's a package for that. The whole point of Atom is for you to pick and choose what packages you need, rather than having every functionality clusterforgeted into the entire thing. Of course, this is both a good and a bad thing for a lot of reasons, but it does depend on your perspective.

unity 5.1 released today

Quote
Unity 5.1 features a highly-optimized rendering pipeline for VR and AR devices to help you achieve exceptional frame rates, as well as new networking APIs, and our Multiplayer Service with Matchmaker and Relay servers (in preview) for easy multiplatform networked games.

We’ve worked hard to deliver a stable release, beating down over 170 bugs and introducing some significant refactoring including a new unified OpenGL rendering backend.

This is semi-related to game design

They (some University in the UK) are hosting a competition to code an AI that can beat the original Spelunky, using their API. A friend and I are working on a cost-based AI that plays super safe.

Aaaaand Unreal 4.8 has just been released officially. It's mostly performance updates, although there's a slew of new features, extra platform support and a brand new "plugins" marketplace feature.

Unreal is still the king, baby.

I have been informed the chances of my team going to PAX with our game this year is slim to none.

That's basically killed my mood and my care for this project.

i thought pax was big and any shady group of game developers cant just waltz right in there and set up shop, much less with an incomplete game?

PAX Australia authorised us and gave us a set of tickets. The college decided to pull the visit because it can't be arsed to finance transport/living expenses to Melbourne, even though every year it has massive fashion exhibitions and photography exhibitions.

Basically, my college said "forget these guys". Yay.

insist until you're either told to forget off with a fist or thrown out of college

Still trying to make a real-time strategy game I guess, and it's slowly becoming playable. Currently working on unit animations and made this in Blender. Just have to get it working in Unity now.

Perhaps make the special effects pixelated too
