Tell people that to register they need to have blockland open.
They need to put in their bl_id and their current name on blockland.
Your server POSTs this to auth.blockland.us/quthQuery.php: NAME=blah&IP=bleh
You get a result "YES bl_idhere"
Registration is complete.
Or if you get a result "NO"
Registration failed.

I don't see how that solves the issue of them having to enter a password. Unless you're going to make them open Blockland every time they want to log in, which would make sense if it was an add-on, but it's a 3rd party website. All auth would do is confirm their identity to a key.

Do accounts have to be authorised and linked to BLID's?

Can't you simply create an account, choose a name and enter a BLID?
If it's already been taken by someone else, then contact the website owner to get it corrected?
And perhaps give the ability to add a link to your Forum account. Maybe RTB ID Lookup for your ID too?


I don't see much of a problem with accounts needing to be verified as blockland players.
If someone is impersonating someone and putting good things up, then it's just bizarre for them to do so.
If someone is putting bad things up, in order to damage a reputation, then the actual player could get in contact and ask for it to be changed.

The only proof necessary for that is for them to contact the website owner, either in-game or in IRC or through the Forums Private Messaging.
If someone else has access to either or both of those then authenticating a BLID serves no purpose if it's already been stolen by someone else.
I like the idea. I don't know if I personally would have lots to upload to it, since I very rarely finish what I build, but I'd probably like to use it to explore new builds and maybe gain some inspiration.

I hope you take onboard some of the suggestions here though.
There definitely needs to be;

• Ability to list relevant Add-Ons
• Ability to add multiple pictures
• An area for comments to be made by other users (Could be toggled on/off for each upload by the uploader)
• The ability to flag a save as being under various states of construction (e.g; WIP, Abandoned, Complete)
• The ability to put in a clearly visible link to any relevant Gallery or Clan topics on these forums

It would also be good to take on The Brighter Dark's suggestions from page 1. They're pretty good.

Good luck with the website though! I hope it goes well.
