Me and my IRL friend Brian practically play csgo competitive every night just for fun and I guess were okay but that's not the point.
We've won like 9ish games in a row and then on the 10th game we get paired up with 3 people who just killed each other and us the whole round
throwing the game. This got me and Brian deranked.
tldr; we won a lot of games but lost 1 and deranked, why.

well if he carried against medium level mmr teams and lost a game to a low mmr team then that might be deserved

Why do people cry so much about their rank. I would much rather be a lower rank and have an actual game than get steamrolled and have no fun.
