"Maybe lost wasn't the right way to put it. I just thought the way he was looking around like that was a little odd."
"Oh. Yeah, that was a bit strange, he acted like he's just seen a ghost."

"Second Lieutanant Jackson?"

I rolled over and looked up to the man above me.

"Yes?"

"You've been called for patrol,"

I groaned and got out of bed. I had been asleep only an hour. It was 3AM.

I walked out to the hanger and got into my G-Suit. The Flatpack was waiting. The lead technician said that I had two AIM-9X's and four AMRAAMS, along with 75% fuel and two droptanks. I nodded, got in the plane, and put my helmet on. The engines started with a whine and as they spooled up and quickly turned over to high whine and roar. I taxied to the runway.

"Tempest, clear for take off, runway nine, proceed immediately north and climb to ten thousand feet, switch to frequency 178.2 MHz for instruction.

"Copy,"

I pushed the throttles to full as I imagined that I was pissing off hundreds of people in the terminal.

Doesn't count as a mission but who will be joining me today?

"Second Lieutanant Jackson?"

I rolled over and looked up to the man above me.

Doesn't count as a mission but who will be joining me today?
I'll join.
"I'm gonna go join Jackson and fly around for a bit. See you guys later."
I drink my coffee rather quickly, run into the barracks and put on my gear, (flight suit things), and walk to the hangar.
I open up my canopy, and hop into my plane. I do all of the system checks (guns, nav, radio, avionics and flight systems) and turn on my engine.

ATC comes on and tells me "F-16 cleared for takeoff. Advise Tempest 2 miles north of  runway 9. Climb to 10000 feet and hold.  Tune to 118.7 MHz for instructions."

"Copy, advise Tempest 2 miles north of runway, tune to 118.7 MHz for instruction."
I punch in the numbers given to me by ATC, and I spool up my engines and taxi to the runway.

I taxi to the runway and I switch my radio to Unicom and take off.
"Tempest, I should be coming up on your 6 here shortly."

"Copy, stick to me when you et up here, and tell me when you get close.

My attention turns to the officer who walked past us to get to the food display. He throws away the spent chip bag, and looks around.

"... You lost, pilot?"
He looks up, "Huh? No." He leaves the privacy of the white walls, "But, this scenario is a little odd, so I don't think a little stargazing would have minded people."

"Tempest's flight this is Blackwater, I'll give you your in-flight briefing. You are to patrol the area directly north-west of the airport. Head bearing, 4-5, angels 20, range 200 miles. Got it?"

"Tempest copies, did you hear him kid?"

"I see. Well, with a little luck we'll be out of here and in a proper airbase before long." A thought quickly enters my mind, but before I entertained it any further I calmly drink the rest of my tea, and throw away the cup. Having calmed down significantly, I decide to try and get some sleep. "Alright, I think I'll have another go at hitting the hay. Take it easy, guys."

I quietly step out of the court and make my way back to the barracks. The rumble of the jet engines slowly grows quieter as I fall asleep.

"Tempest's flight this is Blackwater, I'll give you your in-flight briefing. You are to patrol the area directly north-west of the airport. Head bearing, 4-5, angels 20, range 200 miles. Got it?"

"Tempest copies, did you hear him kid?"
"Yeah. I got it." I dial in the heading.

I point at the Andromeda Galaxy.
"Look. It's really clear out, so you can see Andromeda. When I was young, I would stargaze with my father. That is, before he died..." My voice trails off.

The little F-16 flies onto my tail.

"Okay your here let's go, activate your supercru- oh wait, you're in an F16. It'll be less than an hour then at this speed."

Can I change to a Yuktobanian pilot transferred to the squadron?
pls

"Yeah. I'm reading 454 knots, just short of Mach 1. Shouldn't be too long."
I look up from my system and wave to the pilot next to me.

I return the wave.

"If I get too far ahead of you, tell me. This aircraft is a beast."

I return the wave.

"If I get too far ahead of you, tell me. This aircraft is a beast."
"That wont happen. I could smoke you."
I pump my throttle all the way up and fly past Typhoon.

Can I change to a Yuktobanian pilot transferred to the squadron?
