And thats not a bad thing. This gives each team a chance to win 2 times.
No, it is a bad thing, and it doesn't give each team a chance to win twice.
It guarantee's they win twice.
Meaning it's not a contest at all, so what is the point?
If it's advertised as a contest in the way it is then it's making people want to enter and contribute.
Which means buying Steam Games (for the sake of buying them) and trading Steam Cards on the market (which requires you to put in money on Steam, and Steam takes a cut from each transaction).
They're influencing people to buy more games during the sale and trade more in order to craft badges to enter the contest.
And if it's not a contest then it means that whatever you do has no real effect.
So if you were keen on this contest, and you went and spent $200~ on games or cards to craft badges to put points in the system, but it wasn't the day that your Team was set to win, then you've spent that money without any benefit.
And just because you're still buying games that you can then play and enjoy, it doesn't make it right to rig a promotional contest that ultimately costs money.
