Where did you get the picture from?

Where did you get the picture from?
reverse image search says it's XCOM Fanart

FRAPs is a piece of stuff when it comes to filesizes. 5 second video? Say hello to the entire terrabyte of hard drive being used up. Time to spend 17 minutes in virtualdub.

I'll try, but I'll probably split it into parts or something.

Also Bandicam is a piece of stuff when it comes to sound because there is no "Record WIN7 sound" option, which means the video is silent and no amount of help pages/FAQs will fix it.

There's some free windowed recorders that you could use if you do play the game in windowed mode.

But do they record Windows 7 sound by default, or do I have to go through the frustration of loving around with the options and hoping it will work?

try Open Broadcaster Software

Do you guys mind if I do vanilla Enemy Within first and then Long War after? Long War has recieved a bit of flak that I find reasonable, such as "good ideas, poorly implemented balance" and some other stuff on steam discussion.....

EXALT Missions in Long War? Exalt on every single square of the map, all ready to spam grenades and rockets.

Starting a mission? A stuffton of aliens spawn near the skyranger.

Apparently rockets are very, VERY inaccurate....For only XCOM.

Something about RNG people were raging about.

t happened in enough recent missions that this was the point where I said "fk this" to Long War.

EXALT

The amount of EXALT on extraction missions is absurd. Particularly the Encoder/Transmitter missions where you have to keep them out and then kill them all. There are an insane amount of them. Enemies on the insertion point really shines here, because you can make one move and what do you know, EXALT with rockets that kill you immediately.

The other thing I hate (unironically) is the actual length of the mod. You will be doing an *insane* amount of missions, that are virtually non-stop. Yes, the mod is supposed to promise a long war, but man is it ridiculously tedious. On top of all the other frustrations, this is the one that will make you not want to play, because you never catch a breather. I didn't try "Not So Long War" because I heard it had worse balance issues.

My opinion supports this.  I also agree with much of HGH's complaints.  Many nice additions, but it is off balanced.  Which might be the devs intention for it to be not balanced for difficulty.  *shrugs shoulders*

I'm playing NSLW and it is mid Oct.  With what I can afford, can't shoot down anything larger than small UFO on a regular basis and that's not even guarenteed.  Medium only if I'm lucky and have several interceptors undamaged, forget about anything larger.  Just had two terror missions within a day.  First one half the civilians were on other side of map so they all died without being able to do anything.  At end, as I eliminated the aliens the last remaining enemies turned out to be exalt soldiers.   Exalt aiding terror missions??  Weird.

Next mission I encountered a massive Chrysalid, maybe 5x larger and with over 50 health.  Yeah, baby.  Of course, not expecting that running towards me from out of sight I didn't have people in position to defend well, especially as I am fighting other aliens and obviously not rescuing many civilians so panic will go off scale.

Gotta agree about rockets too.  Not reliable even if readied.  Distance is easily blocked by terrain and distance is short range.   I often do little or no damage.   While exalts are 100% accurate and range is longer and never blocked.  Always a direct hit.  I definitely try to target them, but that has it's disavantages too.

Also FRAPS doesn't work on OpenXCOM

Mm, if that's the case, I'd suggesting going Vanilla and then continuing on with Long War afterwards, yeah. So long as Lee gets bad ass golden Aviators and some really edgy hair I'll be content. And make sure, per protocol, that he has a really nice ass.

FRAPS can't record OpenXCOM, Open Broadcaster Software can only record as a MP4.....And theres no video, only sound. Nope, there is video. Just gotta open it in a video editor.

CYDONIA OR BUST is being recorded right now, but I have to get to the school and get an error fixed. School starts tomorrow.

Bad news guys. Open Broadcaster Software recorded everything in EXTREME low quality. You can barely even read the text. I gotta tweak the settings another time, so have some screenshots.

Cydonia, here we come.....

Sectoid spotted! Revolver Rookie, mindrape that thing!

HUMAN MIND CONTROL SPAM!

The aliens are retaliating by spamming mind control of their own!

Fun Fact:You can use MIND CONTROL on your own MIND CONTROLLED SOLDIERS. I quickly snapped this mind controlled agent back into reality. Once I mind controlled an alien controlled XCOM operative, he was back on my side.

Sectoid leader mind controlled! Now lets force it to blow its own brains out.....

Minutes later.....

Mind control spam is fun.

BEHOLD! The BLASTER LAUNCHER! Its circling around a sectoid 56 times before it finally explodes.

TRIPLE KILL!

Ohboyohboyohboy

CHRYSSALIDS MIND CONTROLLED! Suck on that.

Oh and also we mind controlled an Ethereal.

What the hell is that flying kidney

Mind control a Ethereal with a Blaster Launcher and force it to kill everything else.

Is that a robotic ass on legs? Its like a Reaper, but its a robot. And it shoots green lasers.

Chryssalids began swarming our troops at this point. The mind control finally wore off, and they were PISSED.

Chryssalids in the spawn room! They killed Steele!

Chryssalids zombify victims. Zombies turn into chryssalids when shot. You do the math.

ANOTHER WAVE OF MIND CONTROL LATER.....

Talia: Theres the godamn thing we are looking for.

Revolver Rookie: Someone blaster bomb it, I'm a little occupied with the chryssalids rushing the room.

530 Memes: "With pleasure."

Redshirt Charlie Clone: "Why didnt we...research medkits? Hnnnnnng......"

529 Memes: "What the hell is this? Is that a brain?"

530 Memes: "Get the hell out of there, I'm sending in a Blaster Bomb!"

529 Memes: "I'm going to capture it first......"

529 Memes: "After I deal with this Ethereal taking orders from it!"

"WAIT!"

Lee Hanson: "Did anyone else just hear that?"

"Atleast hear me out before you pull the trigger, miss..."

9mm: "Whats going on up there? I just heard someone shouting 'WAIT', and now theres this huge booming voice thats bursting my loving eardrums."

"Cooperate. Humanity will be kept safe and secure from further hostile alien threats."

The alien brain continues talking. It explains that it is just another pawn, and that killing him will make things worse and bring out the bigger bad. Without HIM, a threat worse than the Etherals will strike. Without him, earth is doomed in the long run. You can put the past events all behind you and join the brain. With his help, Earth will be repaired, science will progress, diseases will be cured, energy crises will be solved, droughts in Califorina will be solved, and something about the recession is also mentioned. Oh, and pollution.

Cooperate with the alien brain and advance mankind?

>Hell yeah

>forget no.

we have a blaster launcher the forget else do we need

>Shoot the brain

loving shoot it.
