Erinamese diplomats attempt to sway the opinion of the Zēnians.  Offerings of gold begins to sway their opinions, when a disgruntled government official reports it to the Bēlänese government.  The report gives rise to tensions on the Erinaum-Bēlänia border.

The remaining barbarian forces in the west agree to the terms of surrender. Half of the armed forces are called back to rest while Virlinde slowly begins expanding its borders westward. Workers are sent to establish roads running throughout the new territory, and surveyors scout the landscape for resources and possible settlement locations. A more comprehensive map of the surrounding area is drawn, and plans for a new town to serve as a cultural influence for the barbarians are formed. Approximately 400 new citizens are added to the population.

Roa quickly becomes a beacon for physical well-being as medical studies begin to flourish. The herbal trade sees a steep rise in activity, and places of worship also become centers of prognosis, healing and lifestyle advice.

After about a year of construction, Roa's docks are expanded to accommodate larger ships and greater numbers of vessels. The fishing industry picks up, and researchers begin to explore new ship building techniques.

A unified system of currency has been devolved. Gold, copper, and silver coins are created in marblemount and distributed to the city states, guarded by the royal guard.

The guilds have all agreed to fund a road network. The benefits far outweigh the potential problems such as maintenance. The roads will be built out of discarded stone found in abundance at the many mines.
A man named Aaron Tullus has been selected to oversee the construction of these roads. A small amount of guards have been placed under his command.

The scouting party had returned and reports are that the lake to the north is much larger than first guessed, It will be a valuable resource as time goes on. There has also been reports of small tribal villages around the lake. Further scouting parties have been sent to investigate.

Research and Development

Aspidis begins research for better weaponry and shields and the appropriate training, including but not (completely) limited to the following:

  • Standardized Throwing Axes
  • Lighter, Sharper Swords
  • Longer, stronger, and more lethal spears
  • Better Javelins
  • Bronze Reinforced Shields both in Round, Oval, and Rectangular designs
  • Improvised Weaponry (IE Beehive Throwers.)

As of present, research is at a mere 5%

Research for enhanced armor is queued, along with artillery, cavalry standardization, and war-chariots.

Politics & Groovy stuff

The Emperor declares his intentions to peacefully annex the surrounding settlements nearby his lands, both to the north and southwest. To the southwest reside much more similar villages, more modernized than a majority of the residents of their island, (Latin/Greek cigarettes), while the north is home to more roughened and less savory types, (Germanics/Saxons), regardless both parties are given the same offer: Power, protection as well as the favor of the Two Headed serpent, and the guarantee to be written down in history as those whom assisted the emperor in conquering the known world, and with this in mind prominent individuals of said villages will be awarded accordingly for converting. To the north, majorities of the settlements are eager to join the Empire of Aspidis, mostly with protection and favor of The Serpent in mind, resulting in a annexation of 81% of the settlements to the north and a rise in population by 2,553, while on the otherhand to the southwest, very few settlements wish to convert, believing they already have everything that has been promised and would rather conquer the known world themselves than help another do so, prompting only 14% of some of the villages and hamlets to the southwest to convert in favor of Aspidis, resulting in a mere 643 rise in population. All in all, 3196 people have joined Aspidis, while plenty more remain independent and unwilling to convert from Aspidis' watched regions.
1) You are not supposed to add a loving boatload of people after expanding. Miko has to roll.
2) Oh my god your research cannot be bundled like that. I've been doing it seperately because logic.

The Atenisian Council attempts to intervene into the quarreling, hoping to stop it and get things done.

All ongoing functions continue, but for now, doing simple and new tasks is impossible.

I think mostly everyonr's land increase was probably accounted for except for mine. I have settlements on the island surrounding us, however they are small. I also expanded westward across the northern coast and south from there.

Plethora, are your ships contacting near my land or on my land?

The ships are going, at the moment, about halfway to the corner of the big < and following the coast.  Never any farther than the first island in that direction.  So unless your ships have gone that far, there would not have been any contact.

Also, my lands taken are not on the current map.  That peninsula attached to my eastern frontier was invaded and annexed.

Avalonian armed forces switch back to bronze as much as they are able, but iron continues to be used for more mass production purposes such as arrow or javelin heads.  Avalonia begins to start importing bronze and its elementary components and exporting surplus iron.

Nope, they haven't.

Maybe they will.

I will edit when I get home.

Erinaum, gathering a lot of gold, reequips its army with better weapons and armor.

Erinaum, interested in archery improvements, begins research on a lateral bow mechanism with a mechanical firing assembly.

Erinaum: The gold deposits found earlier are proving to be extremely hard to access for mining. The gold is still there, however.
Keep this in mind

That makes it more valuable, yes?

Either way, we begin expanding the road network to it.

That makes it more valuable, yes?
No just makes it harder to get to.

MAPS UPDATED AND NPCs YAY

A: You may not colonize if you are surrounded by nations
B: NPCs will be static unless you interact with them or they turn up in a random event
C: If you are not surrounded by NPCs, expansion will be 1600% slow.

Romicia looks like a snake

What happened to my land expansion?

My colonies on the surounding areas was also replaced by NPC land. The land westward wad also not included.

The leader of the Albitons is contacted, and the King of Atenisia would like to host a grand feast, hoping to become with the neighbors.

The Assembly is once again held, and hopefully the presence of the Council stop the quarreling between the citizens.

Still don't have that blasted peninsula.

Revenue from taxing sea trade helps to fund road building and the fortification and rebuilding of Nazgar.  A moat is dug around the "Old City" comprised of Nazgar inside the wall, and a smaller stone wall is built around the "New City" comprised of shorter buildings of the residential or merchant variety.

Avalonia does not attempt to open up political relations with its neighbors immediately, but instead maintains an open door policy to neighboring rulers until Avalonia feels that there is something to gain by initiating contact.  Border settlements and towns begin to train their men more intensely and frequently and some build fortifications believing that the neighbors may prove hostile.

In areas with large Nomad populations, the Nomads are contacted. They are given two choices. Join Galaumia, or face the mighty Kanisteieir.
