You know what grinds my gears?
When I went through the GamerGate hashtag, there were so many loving handicapped morons who were only doing it because they apparently "hate indie games". loving Christ.
Then I found this image from a clear forgettard, if he/she is a dev.
Apparently this is an Anon game dev who says that indies are "scared"to talk about this, and that apparently just because Anita has an opinion and Fez had some unique mechanics, they should have been ineligible for their various awards. If they're not some jealous moron making FPS games that have no unique or original qualities, I'll be surprised.
I'm part of an IGDA group, and I've been part of the discussions about this issue. The thing devs are most scared of has nothing to do with SJWs or media. They're entirely focused on death threats and all the new forms of online abuse that are a result of this kind of controversy. That's what most of them care about, because they're intelligent enough to recognise that everybody can and should be allowed to make the games they want, and even though they should be critiqued, we need to have a level of respect higher than loving primal.
If a majority of gamers are going to act like little cry-babies because somebody made a game they probably haven't played and won't ever play, and because a woman came and made some videos about why she doesn't like games, unless they man the forget up, actually engage with the content and then make a serious review about why they don't like it without resorting to moronic death/rape threats, they should have no right to own any form of communication whatsoever, and we should lock them away forever.
IF YOU WANT YOUR GAMES TO BE CONSIDERED AN ART FORM, THEN ACTUALLY TREAT EVERY loving DEVELOPER WITH AN OUNCE OF RESPECT, AND STOP INSISTING THAT ALL GAMES HAVE TO BE TWITCH SHOOTERS.
