Author Topic: System_StaticMaps [1.2-beta] - Easier static shape loading. Kitchen in works!  (Read 123455 times)

So how viable is this? Is it laggy? I loved <v21 because of being able to make buildings deeply set into terrain, which can't be easily accomplished conventionally. Also textures are a problem for this, right?

This wasn't laggy at all when I was there

Does "terrain turns white if you don't download textures" count as a problem?

I guess I misunderstood for some reason- these are static shapes, so looping textures would be used instead of something like UV maps. I was thinking of terrain, where there was texture blending but the terrain entity that existed in pre-v21 isn't a static object. Silly me.

Yes, this does generate a considerable amount of lag especially if done in such an abundance as a terrain. Once upon a time all bricks were static shapes, they were so inefficient and laggy that they were swapped out with a fxDTS system which allows a whopping 214k bricks, but static shapes are the way to go if you want flat out shapes in Blockland that you can make whatever out of, fxDTS bricks can't do it to that level.

the limit is set at 256k and that's just a networking limitation

I want someone to make a "Mod of the year" thing just to give it to Wrapperup for this.

Maybe this'll make me want to come back to Blockland.

Suggestion: Custom Texture menu, to chose/downland any textures for a static map before you launch it!

I'm stuffting rainbows!
Job well done!

10/10 would build underground again

Is there anyway to bring back the other classic maps like the staircase (the one with the evening look) or the tree house? I'm sure all this only applies to interior maps and not terrain.
Maybe the tutorial map too?
