Is he arguing that rape jokes are fine?

yes
are you implying they're not?

I think they're in bad taste and people have a right, (at least here in the US), to react to them however they feel necessary within the law. If protesters want to protest, they should be able to do it under Canadian law. The university should be allowed to suspend them, especially if the agreement between the students and university disallowed stuff like this.

Edit: The anonymous bullstuff is stupid though. I'm still watching the vid.

I agree that people can say whatever they like as long as it's not inciting violence or lawbreaking, but I disagree that they're in bad taste. I believe they are fine and that you can joke about anything.

No. Universities are a place for free speech and suspending people for saying something you don't like is censorship and not the way to go about doing things. If you get offended by something, too loving bad. Kicking people out of college for "offending" someone is a horrible way to do things and it's totalitarian. Gay marriage offends many people, should we suspend people who speak in favor of gay marriage?

I'm wit Electrk on this one. Jokes are supposed to open the air about really sensitive issues so that we can feel comfortable talking about them.

People need to chill the forget out.

They're a bit distasteful but goddamn it's a joke. There's a difference between a crappy joke and actually doing it, their reactions are wayyyyyyy over the top unnecessary. And it sure as hell isn't loveism... What, do you expect a male to make gay rape jokes?

I was waiting to post while I thought of how I wanted to verse my thoughts, but I think you did it Ippy. I think the reaction is over the top, but its not wrong. It's not the wrong reaction, its the extreme of the right reaction to the topic of rape. So basically, people need to chill the forget out, however rape jokes are still stupid as forget.

I thought it was pretty dumb of those dental students to post those macros, however the video does highlight the incredible and ridiculous amounts of double standards we have in our world and how out of touch people have gotten.
