because it sounds stupid when everyone names stuff after watergate

putting "gate" in front of a word doesn't make it sound official or like a big deal

it just makes you look stupid, or a ludicrous trendsetter
The gate in gamergate causes appealing alliteration and also refers to another very recognizable controversy.
Movements caused by gamergate generally keep the -gate suffix so that they are easily recognizable.

Deflategate rhymes and refers to another very recognizable controversy.

etc. It has to do with the English language and ability to easily spread.

I was having a twitter conversation with some GGers but then Twitter decided to go full handicap and lock my account for no reason. And now, even if I unlock my account, if I try to reply to them, even if it's with something entirely different, my account gets blocked.

I loving hate twitter with a passion.

existence is trash, to make everyone happy, we must destroy our own universe and everything in it.

#Existencegate

also twitter is bad anyways dont use that.

Who has conversations on Twitter?

Turns out everyone who discussed gamergate was blocked for 10 minutes, Including TotalBiscuit.

Edit: If so, you're a moron. The world's not against you because you're a loving gamergater. Grow up.
