i don't so much care about the idea that women have their paychecks straight-up slashed by x percent on average; i'd rather have faith that most upstanding companies follow the law and aren't silly enough to try and get away with that kind of nonsense. i believe in employing people based on their qualifications as any bureaucratic society would, and i tend to believe that others feel the same way unless they make clear that they believe otherwise.
before i go on i'm gonna make clear that i don't expect this to be TheTruth.org, these are my general opinions on the subject matter which are subject to my personal viewpoints, and my purpose is to make more clear where i stand, not to set up a contrary case
the main thing i have a problem with is the idea that love is extensively meaningful to someone's fitness for a job (or anything). i don't think there's any natural order that divides people so fundamentally. that's all culture. i can accept nature as an explanation for why that's the way it's been, but not as a way to justify it. i don't see any reason why a male or female would be intrinsically (as a first assumption) more fit to be a teacher, programmer, trucker, artist, or what have you. i can see why it could be argued that a man might be more likely to be fit for jobs like construction since males have the obvious muscle mass thing goin on. i'm not denying there are anatomical differences between males and females (not that it matters a whole lot for higher-skill jobs), i'm just sceptical that it's sufficient justification in the modern world. (making a distinction between anatomy and psychology; it's difficult to study psychological differences between lovees in a vacuum)
to be more concise:
i don't believe the world is bending on its axis to chain anyone down or deny people their rights or w/e a lot of people seem to enjoy believing. all i'm sayin i that i don't think we really get much use out of the idea that men and women should be considered, in any context, unequal in terms of fitness, ability, etc. and that's what feminism is about.
again, my point was to present my general stance and not much more, so forgive me if some of the details aren't very well-developed
