yeah honestly the only nation really focusing on the sciences is Ru'sh Naal.

guys if i am right south calzone is uh

dictator bad guy yes
Nah.  When Marivus's revolution ended and Atensia kicked out its sister state and Avalonia kicked out all the people that supported the dictator, a lot of these exiles wound up in South Calzone and caused a lot of trouble and it's now borderline anarchy.

Avalonian Universities have had sciencey stuff for eons now, and stole a bunch of the good ideas from around the world back when there was travel to foreign parts.

irajinad boosts my science by a forgetton, just like the rest of the holy nations boosts your military a lot

If the darn -50% RE hadn't set me back...  Oh well.  I did it to myself after all.
Sorry fixed it.

As far as range goes, does the X to Atensia approximation apply to my capitol or to my frontiers and coastline?  Does having Plexia under my control make it so I can reach Bequelans, or do I assume that the distance is measured from my capitol or whatever?
I'd say it depends on a lot of things.  According to the ocean currents map, the Bequelans would have monsoons and huge storms.  Also it is a point near the doldrums, so I would say that travel through that part of the world at all would be very limited.  With that in mind now I realize the the concept of the Bequelans having a kickin' navy is rather stupid.

Independently, it also depends highly on supplies.  If Plexia would have an abundance of supplies that would allow you to reach the same distance, then yes.  While I am glad there is a distance limit for sea navigation, I think the maximum distance should factor in whether you are traveling along or against currents, whether you would encounter storms, and your country is a stuffhole or not.  And of course, provided that you have appropriate naval technology-- A cardboard box will not get you very far.

Also Marivus, Dirvash and Arcano call for the "Immidiate Cassinization of South Calzone by a Liberation Army."

Atenisia requests that it is allowed to lead a HN-endorsed annexation of South Calzone.

The country will be split accordingly to participation.

The HN votes that the Second Aspian Empire should lead the invasion, but the vote then falls to the runner-up: East Albiton.  Atenisia came in third.

The Second Aspian Empire at this point liberated half of West Albiton.

Earthquakes increase in Resuland.

The Resunese, watching as the animals continue to get the forget out of there and with the increasing earthquakes, collectively say "forget that" and under the guidance of the shogun and daimyos pack up their stuff and begin a massive march from their original homeland and blindly towards the Ezbatan states. The horde of people have yet to arrive, but they're definitely on their way there.

The New Union, being in a better place than it was, makes good on its promise to reward the brave defenders of Turtle Island.  Resources are put forward to rebuilding any damaged or destroyed fortifications.  The defenders and their descendants will forever have the title Ehrenwert as a prefix to their name.

Not pleased at reports that the Holy Nations will be attempting to take over South Calzone, a goal shared by the New Union, the New Union, knowing it lacks the military strength to resist it, instead covertly sells a bunch of weapons and training to factions in the area in exchange for the sort of stuff it hoped to extract earlier.  It also engages in talks with faction leaders in the area adjacent to Turtle Island about the possibility of rejoining the New Union; the talks generally don't go super well, but there was no violence, so we'll take it for now.

To provide greater internal stability, the nation's draft policy is altered such that those in the age bracket may, instead of receiving monthly military training, should they be considered somewhat unfit for military service, may serve in a sort of police force.  This serves to help with the provision of law and order, as well as make the military smaller to some degree but better in quality to a noticeable degree.

I shouldn't have opened my mouth about the REs  >:(
Dang it'll be a long way back up there.
To be fair, I think my military should still rank above Ru'sh's.  Even after two Civil Wars and the associated political upheaval, Avalonia has more soldiers than Ru'sh has people, even if a lot of them aren't elites anymore.

Atenisia continues to grab as many west Albitonic states as possible.

After compeleting the first level to the walls along the West and North borders of Ru'sh Naal, work begins to continue the wall down the eastern border of the state, however such construction is halted after concerns of non-rustuffe affiliated tribes over the interference of their traditional hunting and fishing territories being blocked off by the wall.

Many of these tribesmen form camps directly in the projected path of the eastern wall but these camps, halting production in some areas, however these peoples are not disturbed at the time due to Navaro's insistence of a peaceful coexistence with neighboring tribes, and ambassadors are sent out to negotiate their peaceful relocation.

Many Rustuffes are asking to cut their costs short and instead of including the eastern Kastwata province in the wall, to simply run the wall down the interior eastern border, and provide for a more localized defense of the Kastwata area. This motion is overruled as the Kastwata do not wish to be walled out of their own country.

A small fort is being built inside the capital. Traders see troops that do not look like Galaumians circling the fort, guarding it.

Many on Turtle Island debate this, some arguing that it would be beneficial to join the union.  However, the slight majority votes against rejoining the Union.

Kinda confused how this would happen when Cassians have somewhat more of a presence in the Union.

The relation isn't linear, and Ru'sh is only superior in that its military is organized towards a single goal, kind of like the Prussians under Frederick the Great.  By contrast, Avalonia is still reorganizing, and while something can be said about its numbers, it is not perfectly unified.

Atenisia continues to grab as many west Albitonic states as possible.
The Second Aspian Empire yells at Atenisa saying that this job is its own mission.  East Albiton agrees, and says that Atenisia should focus on the invasion of South Calzone.

A shift in Erinamese warfare and politics occurs where move covert actions are becoming popular to where smart usurpations and sabotage are becoming more and more common practice, however, this is led primarily by a league of five Erinamese and Zēnian states that have close relations.  In response, three of the Bēlänese states and two Varakian states form a union and train a notably strong infantry-based army.  Other states seem to primarily follow these axes.

A civil war in Sjinai erupts when the High Chieftain is suddenly assassinated.  The southern Muslims blame the Buddhists, and the northern Buddhists blame the Muslims.  The government-in-exile escapes to the peaceful southeastern Ezbatan state of Zienøt, which swears that it will protect the government-in-exile as long as the civil war occurs.

Plumes of steam and smoke can be seen at the top of the soon-to-be volcano in the Tsugiri mountain range a few days before eruption.  The volcano erupts and the earthquakes and lava flow in the region cause much of the milleniums-old ice to tumble off the ancient mountains.  Anyone and anything left in old Resuland is completely blanketed in lava flow.  Ashes are shot miles high into the atmosphere, and the ashes spread around the globe, causing the world to enter a period of darkness.  Temperature begins to drop.

Atenisia stops and simply keeps all of the land it took. It respects the Second Aspian Empire, but throws in that us conquering the West Albitonic states was done loving before they even started or even concepted the idea. It adds that it will release all land taken by Atenisia if Albiton and Aspidis are interested in giving it back to Albiton or making a new state.

(so swat if you want to like, not make them take our claims and have you make them say that they were doing it first, would be great).

Atenisia sends its first and second infrantry divisions to the conquering of South Calzone.
It publicly announces, on the behalf of the HN, that any interference of any HN claims (which is basically like, all of South Calzone) by Avalonia is unacceptable.

Turtle Island was one of the few places that remained loyal to the Council and was the first place back with the Union.  That's why it remained gold on map updates when most of the rest became NPC color.  Given that they spent the time, energy, and lives in uncompromising support of the Council, I find it doubtful that they'd bail now, especially with nationalism reaching a high pitch.

The Cassians that remain are essentially the ones that are loyal.  If nationalism doesn't Annoying Orange religiously based political ties, perhaps Avalonia was too quick to grant them equality.  Either way, they are not key players in Avalonia by any means.

That bit about the military makes sense I guess.

Swat, does "covertly" mean mean nothing to you?

This announcement was unrelated to Avalonia's hissy fit over HN conquering South Calzone.

Unrelated in the way that we already knew that you would do whatever it takes to get Mr. South Calzone back.
Because you are Avalonia.
