quickly guys, let's look way too far into this reveal trailer
let's face it: it's a game. the devs even acknowledge this fact, and say that it's not meant to be taken seriously. i bet most of the idiots that are yelling, "don't buy this game, it's just trash made to get a rise from the media! even though the game can't be purchased yet, i've deduced from this near minute of gameplay that this game is the devil, and it will destroy gaming!" did not go as far as to even click on the loving website.
Hatred is an isometric shooter with disturbing atmosphere of mass killing, where player takes the role of a cold blood antagonist, who is full of hatred for humanity. It's a horror, but here YOU are the villain. Wander the outskirts of New York State, seek for victims on seven free-roam levels. Fight against law enforcement and take a journey into the antagonist's hateful mind. Gather equipment of the dead ‘human shields’ to spread Armageddon upon society. Destroy everything on your way of hunt and fight back when it's disturbed...
...just don't try this at home and don't take it too seriously, it's just a game. :)
The question you may ask is: why do they do this? These days, when a lot of games are heading to be polite, colorful, politically correct and trying to be some kind of higher art, rather than just an entertainment – we wanted to create something against trends. Something different, something that could give the player a pure, gaming pleasure. Herecomes our game, which takes no prisoners and makes no excuses. We say ‘yes, it is a game about killing people’ and the only reason of the antagonist doing that sick stuff is his deep-rooted hatred. Player has to ask himself what can push any human being to mass-murder. We provoke this question using new Unreal Engine 4, pushing its physics (or rather PhysX) systems to the limits and trying to make the visuals as good as possible. It's not a simple task, because of the game's non-linear structure and a lot of characters on the screen. But here at Destructive Creations, we are an experienced team and we know how to handle the challenge!
these paragraphs tell you more about the game than the trailer in all respects, and completely takes away the "edginess" everyone is so keen on yelling about
you are the antagonist. the antagonist is possibly insane. you freeroam across 7 levels. you kill people, including police. you kill a lot of people. a LOT of people. you are swimming in god damn bodies. you are out to destroy society.
however, most important: don't forget it's a game.
IT'S A GAMEthis game is hardly different from GTA in the aspect of senseless killing. sure, you can argue, "oh, well, you don't HAVE to kill civilians in GTA, it's completely avoidable!"
well, for one, there are times where you have to kill civilians as part of a mission. it's not optional. on top of that, i'd like you to go out and find one person who has played and completed a GTA game without killing or wanting to kill civilians. murdering people in GTA is something everyone has done at some point, you can't just not do it. the game is practically screaming, "look at all of these people you could run over! mmm, blood! beat this man with a bat!"
tl;dr: read the quote in my post and then decide if you think it could be a fun game. don't let the trailer's edginess (which i admit it has), the media, or other people influence you. you decide if a dark, bloody, gritty, isometric run and gun is a game for YOU, not the people of this forum, not the families of murder victims, but YOU and only you.
