I have to say, while it is true that the officer used a chokehold-- I have to point out that it's mostly the victims fault, as he indeed resisted arrest, the officer literally had every right to attempt to subdue him using non-lethal means, many people have stated that indeed, the victim should have actually gone peacefully and not resist arrest-- if he hadn't resisted arrest, this whole episode wouldn't have happened.
... It was entirely the victim's fault that he died, if he hadn't resisted arrest-- the officer then wouldn't have attempted to subdue him using a chokehold, therefore he wouldn't die, although the officer is 15% to blame, most of that blame falls to the victim due to not only commiting a crime, but also-- as I have stated way too much, resisted arrest.
My point being, the defendant simply attempted to use means which weren't 'legal' according to most people, but he still attempted to do his job by non-lethally subduing the victim in order to bring him into custody for his crime, I should point out that the victim literally should have not attempted to even resist arrest in the first place, as I stated earlier, if the victim didn't resist at all-- this wouldn't have happened at all, therefore-- it's entirely the victim's fault that he died.
