I turn back to the combat zone and engage the damaged destroyer, dropping the UGB on it and turning away before I get in range of their AA guns.

Bell fires one of her AGMs off at a hovercraft and climbs above the cloud canopy. She looks at her radar screen and positions her aircraft so that she is in front of Oxide by a large margin for a split-S maneuver. Bell pushes down on the stick hard, and the MiG-29 dives down as fast as possible, leveling out at slightly above Oxide's altitude with the belly of the plane pointing towards the sun. She locks onto the Viggen behind the allied fighter and hits the afterburners, firing a heatseeker- and following up with cannon fire after passing Oxide's plane.

"Somebody forgetin-" A friendly falls onto my tail and attacks the Viggen.

"Breaking right!" I yell, before rolling and pulling right.

I push my throttle back up and head to the AWACS.

"Three AGMs, please."

You get three AGMs.

Faw remains silent as he pops both chaff and flares in an attempt to throw the two missiles off his tail.

oh wait I got spiked I am clinically handicapped.

Faw pops his turbocharger in an attempt to lose the two guided missiles tracking him.

(You know countermeasures are meant to throw off any radar-guided or heat-seeking stuff right)

You can't outrun the SAMs and really have just wasted time. You feel your aircraft shake as the turbocharger takes it above its top speed.

The UGB doesn't have enough velocity to carry it all the way to the destroyer, and it goes in the drink.

The Viggen pulls away, the heatseeker just missing. Your cannon fire doesn't however, and the plane receives incredibly heavy damage. Just a split second more of cannon fire would've had the bastard in the ocean.

You break right.

Enemy Forces:
Heavy Hovercraft - 2x [HEAVY DAMAGE]
Destroyer - 1x [MODERATE DAMAGE]
Destroyer - 1x [HEAVY DAMAGE]
Saab 37 Viggen - 1x [HEAVY DAMAGE]

: Hurry it up air support, I can see the damn fleet from here!

"Recieved."

I lock and fire an AGM at the hovercraft closest to the shoreline, and begin locking onto the destroyer I damaged earlier.

Bell turns around and fires her last seeker at the Viggen. "That's it, I'm out of missiles." She heads back to the AWACS to replenish her supply of missiles and bombs.

I turn towards one of the hovercraft, aiming my plane directly at it, then blind-fire a HSM at it, pulling away at the last second so I don't hit it.

I lock and fire an AGM at the hovercraft closest to the shoreline, and begin locking onto the destroyer I damaged earlier.

The AGM hits the already-damaged hovercraft dead on, and the people in the hovercraft end up dead... off.

: [Commander! We're the only ones left, we won't make it!]
: [Get off of me, you fool! Our destroyers are still up, and we will not die until our feet are on the ground. Full speed!]

The destroyers begin focusing very heavily on shooting the lot of you down, with only three available to fire between the both of them. Nonetheless there is a lot of anti-air flying through the skies right now. Particularly towards Junker.

Bell turns around and fires her last seeker at the Viggen. "That's it, I'm out of missiles." She heads back to the AWACS to replenish her supply of missiles and bombs.

The pilot slips up, and without flares or chaff to back them up, receives a thruster-full of missile. The aircraft is thoroughly destroyed, and what's left falls apart.

I turn towards one of the hovercraft, aiming my plane directly at it, then blind-fire a HSM at it, pulling away at the last second so I don't hit it.

You miss as the hovercraft begins to haul ass towards the shoreline.

I complete the lock and fire my AGM at the destroyer. Then I turn towards the other hovercraft, lock, and fire my last AGM... quickly followed by toggling the afterburners towards friendly airspace. I've estimated that I have about 7 to 15 seconds before guided AA from the destroyers reaches me, and I wait about 3 seconds to get into friendly lines so that if the missiles do hit, and I have to eject, I'll probably be left in good hands.

I cut my throttle yet again, roll the craft up-side-down, and do an inverted Immelmann turn as I drop the last of my chaff and flares.

Faw makes a hard bank right in an attempt to evade the oncoming missiles.

Bell moves into standby position for resupply.

The first AGM streaks from your aircraft and rams into one of the missile pylons of the destroyer; fortunately for the crew, their munitions have yet to detonate. Your second AGM is not as forgiving. Just as the hovercraft is about the hit the shoreline, the AGM rear-ends it, blowing out its engines and spraying burning material all over the rest of the hovercraft. Several marines bail into the water, several others are not as lucky.

You feel your aircraft shudder around you in protest, the beast feeling as though it will shake itself apart with the damage it's received. You cut the maneuver short, and the lack of anti-air fire makes that fine.

Faw makes a hard bank right in an attempt to evade the oncoming missiles.

As the destroyers turn to leave, their lock on you is broken and the SAMs drop off, detonating harmlessly away from you.

Bell moves into standby position for resupply.

: Negative. Hostile forces are retreating, do not engage.

By the time the hovercraft's wreckage makes it ashore, little more than a single squad of marines, at least half of them injured, file out of the broken vehicle. Those that were uninjured attempted to fight, only to be cut down by a much less shell-shocked and entrenched squad of Mercanans from afar. The rest are given no choice but to surrender. The destroyers seem like they're trying to turn tail and flee.

: Good work, Mjolnir. The amphibious assault has been defeated. I am reading no other hostile forces coming in, and the armor on the ground isn't making any headway. Ground commander, can you confirm?
: --Hold your fire! Can confirm, frisbee. Hostile ground units have been repelled.
: Mjolnir, you are cleared to return to McNamara airbase for refuels and repairs.

After an uneventful flight back to McNamara airbase, she lands and taxis to the squadron hangar, where her MiG was stored. She heads out to the barracks to take a shower and hangs out in the hangar with her tablet afterwards.

"Woo!"
I disengage from the Huit troops and turn back to base, landing and taxiiing my plane uneventfully. I shower and afterwards head to the commons area in the barracks.

The flight is uneventful, minus fighting the MiG's trim settings.

I'm angry because I missed the majority of the fight, didn't get a kill, and got the aircraft damaged.

The ground crews were not impressed.

I swallow my misery and go to sleep.
