What the hell are these threads supposed to even do? We get it the servers aren't very good right now, but there's no way stopping that, the top server's hosts know it's successful, so they won't stop until it wears out, and their players move on to something else for you the moan on about.

These threads are meant to encourage new server makers not to make the same "mistakes" as the older ones. You must've TL;DR'd.

I feel like another problem is that people are trying to force out these vastly unique ideas and try to make them work, but ultimately fail in making them work out very well.

some people should look to just making more basic things like simple DMs and expanding from that with stuff like unqiue maps and weapons.

keep the concept, but mix everything else up.

and if you have a complaint or criticism you can be damn sure they're gonna say "if you don't like it then leave."

this specifically pisses me off so much. i can't go anywhere because nobody's ever willing to accept any form of criticism short of giving anyone (read: everyone) who has a problem the cold shoulder and continuing on their merry forgetin' way.

this is an unfortunate reality for a lot of things

luckily "marketing" your server is pretty simple in blockland

just posting about it on the forums with a pretty OP and a nice bit of information can be enough to make people drop in; from there you can draw in a bigger audience from the non-forum crowd.
