They were probably demonized because they were being discriminatory. It's not like the people demonizing them went out of their way to harm the pizza place. Rather, they raised money for LGBT charities (I can't recall which ones) and boycotted the pizza place. (totally within their right. if an ice cream shop refused people on the basis of race I would refuse to go there)
I can't think of any place where LGBT people have privilege over straight people. There are still bigots in liberal areas, richardbag.
You're acting like discriminating against LGBT people and banning them from your store shouldn't have any consequences.
I know well why they were demonized. It makes perfect sense. All I am saying is that it is not like they are "praised" for believing what they believe. Ipquarx was making it appear as if there were only positive consequences for the pizza place, which was not the case. Before I continue, there's really no need for hostility. It's completely unnecessary. I can definitely think of a place that BLT people have privilege over straight people. The media. Social media. News stations. TV shows. It's not always physical places, I suppose.
Now, personally, I am against discrimination against BLT people. I think it's morally and ethically wrong. However, our Constitution guarantees our right to be wrong. It's not like they should be arrested and facing legal justice for running a private business how they see fit. Plus, it's not like they're the ONLY one of that service. There's probably another one you could use just as easily.
You claim that this happens "relatively often." Give me a relatively significant amount of cases, yes? Plus, politicians need to be careful of what they say, regardless of how touchy a subject area is. If they can't learn how to speak in public correctly then their careers are going to be ruined regardless of whether or not LGBT people have equal rights.
(Read above for first part)
Well, it's not always just politicians. It can be just anybody noteworthy. Celebrities, business owners, news personalities, you get the idea. It's not always on them, as it usually is twisted to mean something almost ENTIRELY different from what the original meaning was.
