It didn't really make any sense
How was it high tech? Just heavier than a normal sledge?
The new super sledge seems like a post-war design that would actually be feasible rather than a big "high tech" hammer
The old super sledges had a kinetic energy storage device, and iirc it was supposed to be lightweight considering its size.
The new one is just a rocket powered sledgehammer, which while I will say is cool, isnt really "super".
It would be interesting to me if I could actually modify it to have high-tech attachments and make it more like the old ones. Hell, I could think of a hell of a lot of things you could add to them, from different handles to larger/smaller heads. Even throwing a loving spike on the end would be cooler than the options we have now.
like super sledge used to not make sense (why would we give soldiers a melee weapon on purpose) but then now that it's just a weird post apocalyptic thing it sort of comes together, but the power fist has been nonsense from day one
the only justification i can come up with for unarmed as a whole is that power armor fighting is actually super hard and cumbersome because it's not designed for powerful sharp movements as much as it is slow tactile ones, like manipulating a gun or using tools and melee weapons on the whole stop become extremely hard to handle so you're forced to used your fists
I dont see how melee weapons are invaluable in combat.
Also Im using purely unarmed this playthrough because ive been watching too much One Punch Man.
