Ammo crafting was a loving nuisance, especially as you found more ammo than you can craft.
Hardcore mode was alright but nothing amazing, just some more stuff to micromanage which was super easy (only sleep was kind of annoying if no beds around, but you could just chug nuka-colas all game and never sleep, so it still wasn't realistic). Plus they then roostered up by giving you a bottomless canteen in GRA (or other pack), which you chugged automatically, and had no rads, when half the point was balancing food/water intake against rad gain.

Also, NV had essential npcs too, particularly companions (unless on hardcore).

my favorite part about hardcore mode was having to actually wait around in cover; eating and drinking was arbitrary and wandering around gave me more food and water then i knew what to do with anyway. having pre-placed food (and hell most unprepared food like meat you get off of enemies) be super irradiated is a nice touch but i still feel like everything heals you way too much too fast

ammo crafting was a pain in the ass for smaller rounds but i appreciate the idea of deliberately dismantling bullets you don't need in order to turn them into bullets you do need, but new vegas didn't really do that either cause all the bullet's powders and primers were could only be used in similar-scale bullets and that's realistic but doesn't fit the mechanic that they seemed to be going for (unless the idea was that you could break apart bullets to deliberately make more powerful bullets, but then i never swapped out bullet types depending on enemies anyway) (especially to the rare stuff like pulse rounds and incendiary rounds, because they were too good to use)

like the point of survival mode is to force you to actually use cover and retreat / charge as necessary to make sure you're getting the most out of your HP as you can but the problem is that there's still no reason you'd ever actively run from a fight unless you're completely out of ammunition because food is so plentiful

I stopped picking up food because I have 300 stimpacks by the end of the game

i kept picking up food because i had 300 stimpacks every time i went back to town, which meant i was sitting around on 300 stimpacks worth of cash

That's nice and all except how often do you encounter them? Yessman (who can still die technically) is hidden away somewhere not in the way so how can you use that excuse?

Your average essential NPC in both Fallout 3 and 4 will often get in your way, they aren't hidden away where you'll almost never see them. Nope, they are right out in the open always preventing you from doing what you want to do. I want to pick pockt someone and then I get an essential NPC shooting me for it and there is nothing I can do about it. Rivet City was a nightmare and I hear sanctuary is no better.  A lot of them are essential for no reason too, there has been a few NPCs who are essential that serve absolutely no purpose. Even after their quest is done they are still immortal and still useless.

Speaking of micromanaging fallout 4 does it worse. I've seen people who spend hours just collecting pencils just to extract their lead for some stupid thing they need to build.

I didn't need the caps either

Being able to completely ignore food just kept my inventory nice and clean

Well I believe ammo types is better and more plausible than a "armor piercing gun barrel" attachment. Also these armor piercing mods give general negative effects. To prevent that with ammo just switch to regular. Can't do that with guns.

Unless you want to carry multiple different versions of the same gun which is going to put a lot of burden with your carry weight.

Bullstuff. If you play the game like a normal person, you'll have most of what you need to craft.

By picking up every coffee cup and pencil and dishrag you see? In 3 and NV I only pick up what I usually need like turpentine or duct tape.

thats just different. there is actually nothing wrong with it besides being different from whatever preconceptions you have. not a problem with the game

NPCs with unexplained immortality is an issue.

At least in NV Yessman has a virus program and the brains in the big M.T. use mind control to prevent death.

bethesda has done this forever, did you not expect it to still be here??

hey i made a video mostly to try out a way of putting captions on video with shotcut

any criticism would be nice as long as it's not "ur vidoe suk butt kill slef"

There was a time they didn't cater to casuals. It stopped at Morrowind.

i meant the "picking up items in the game" thing. 3/NV was completely filled with completely useless items that only existed to be clutter. it's good change that they can now be actually used for things
