cater to casuals.
Opinion immediately discarded.
Ammo crafting was a mediocre feature, I know it, you know it, everyone knows it. The only reason people are bitching about it is because 4 doesn't have it. If it did, there would be precisely zero people that cared enough to even mention it.
The only really lacking physical gameplay feature that I miss (excluding the old dialogue system; they tried something new and it didn't work, I'll bet it'll be back in Fallout 4.5 or 5) is different types of ammunition. It was nice to be able to cater my weapon damage to the people I was facing.
I'm a little disappointed with the weapons in the game tbh. The only handgun that's actually worth using is the .44, and once again Bethesda made its gun waifu the Gatling Laser objectively the best gun in the game. Beyond that, there just isn't a lot of diversity. I was pretty surprised that for all intents and purposes there is a whopping 3 ballistic assault rifles, and only 5 total assault rifles.
It's just... Idk. They set up a very good foundation for new Fallout titles, but its just that; a foundation. Hopefully Bethesda takes a page out of Obsidian's book for the next game or they just let Obsidian do the next one, and they build on what they've made.
