My guess is it will be inaccessible unless 1) you are with the institute 2) the quest requires entrance in which case there will be a teleporter

I'm guessing you'd teleport out to either your teleporter or the CIT ruins

i would think that if you're an ally of the institute you should be able to take advantage of teleporters the same way the synths do, and therefore exploit it to teleport anywhere

mm I guess that would actually make sense

Seems a little overpowered though, as you can be an ally of the institute and the other factions for a very long time provided you don't go too far in the main storyline.

So wait a second [I could have gotten the serum for Virgil and still not be with the institute?!]

Well, i feel that even if that isn't the case, it'd still be the same way with the Brotherhood and their vertibirds.
Even if i didn't side with them in my first playthrough, i probably would in survival just so i would've have to run around everywhere.

There's mods out there to build fast travel points to your settlements, like teleporters, vertibirds, and stuff

I suppose that's somewhat true.
Although you are in danger of being killed while flying in the vertibirds.
Plus, you have to carry signal grenades, which have weight. That could be something you have to compromise while also carrying food/water/ammo.

And the big downside to the vertibirds is that you can't always tell if a location is suitable before throwing the grenade.
And if it isn't, you don't get the grenade back, which is a nuisance.

So, being able to teleport around via the Institute may be quite a bit more useful than BoS vertibirds.

You might be able to travel between settlements via trade routes or guides

when I playes through the game I did this to myself. I would only travel from friendly settlements to other friendly settlements. worked pretty well and gave an incentive to build a network of settlements

My pregnant women of the vault like hanging out at the bar.

is that groucho marx

According to the Surgeon General, women should totally not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy because of the risk of awesome birth defects
