If you're approaching from the air and he's shielding, you could mix him up by NOT doing an aerial, and just landing as fast as possible (try to fastfall) and grabbing his shield. This is called an "empty hop", and what I described would be called an empty hop grab. You could also empty hop -> dash behind him, he whiffs the grab since you're behind him, dash back and punish somehow.

You could also waveland backward (away from him) out of a full hop or a short hop in front of him so that he might forget up the grab, and then punish his forget up.

You could also overshoot the aerial past his shield so that if he tries to grab you'll be behind him already. People can really only shieldgrab your aerials on their shield if you land in front of them.

Regarding the dair, dair is -6 on shield at best (meaning that he will be actionable 6 frames before you) and -8 at worst. Good Sheiks could nair you OOS, but if the Sheik you're playing against can really only shieldgrab, then a perfect drillshine would beat a frame perfect shieldgrab. You could input JC grab after the shine to jump cancel the shine and then grab, but good players can buffer a roll or a spot dodge to dodge a shine-grab.

Depending on his grab habits, you could just run up and jc grab him without even jumping. If he's just sitting in his shield and not just shielding when you're airborne, you can just dash dance slightly outside of his grab range to bait him into grabbing, and then punish.

literally no idea what any of this means

If you actually care to know what it means, you could google most of the terminology and get an answer

it's also called a "tomahawk" if you've ever heard that before. i've heard it refer to both empty hopping or empty hop grab though. I think it's falling out of use anyways because it's not that clear what it means

counterpick to a platform stage
though fox players deserve to get down throw techchased anyways B)

if youre on a platform above this sheik and hes shielding, drop through and then dj -> waveland down back onto platform. he'll whiff whatever he was going to do once you went down there (likely a nair or a grab)

i tried this out and it feels kind of weird but still interesting
