Author Topic: Windows 10 Thread | I AM LATE BUT IT'S HERE FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE  (Read 134947 times)

i dont think i could ever move to edge fulltime, i've gotten to used to chrome intergrating with my phone/tablet
Yeah this, also Edge is lacking some things that Chrome has has like extensions for a small example. Once they update it more in the future then it has a chance of being one of my main browsers.

How should I vote if did install but went back to 8.1?

i don't blame anyone who distrusts windows 10 with all of their data collectionisms

Have fun staying on Windows 7 till 2020 ipquarx, honestly though what are you hiding some nasty stuff in your computer or something?
They only snoop in your computer if you have a court order, and unless you get into shady stuff you have nothing to worry about.
I'm actually on win8.1 on my laptop and win7 on my family computer. I can't upgrade the family computer; it's not mine.

I'm not hiding any nasty stuff either, unless you consider the relatively tame explicit imagery that I have tucked away. I've never broken the law, well, save for maybe jaywalking. It's not that I don't want to get caught doing something illegal, it's that I don't want to give them the ability to spy on me. It's not just about them actually taking the data, it's about them having the ability to. It's like this, but more digital: I don't want the local police spying on me in the shower (And other places around the house), so when they ask me to install cameras I'm going to respectfully decline. They try to explain that they'll only activate them if they have a good faith that someone's broken into the house, but I decline, saying that I don't want any possibility of abuse.

Also, if a hacker ever figures out how microsoft gets data off of the computers and how to do it themselves (which is a real possibility), everyone on win10 is royally forgeted. It's a matter of privacy and security

yeah, while they're probably not going to "spy on muh balls", there's always a chance, so you have a point

So whats with all the tinfoiling? Just speculation about personal data usage from MS?

The rest of that area has already been explained, they have a backdoor in the OS that allows them to gather any file from the computer. I don't like it, so I'm not upgrading. I was just explaining to everyone else why I made that decision.

should i wait for upgrade or download manually

apparently it's more complicated to download manually? like you have to upgrade to windows 10 then format otherwise it won't be activated

Hmm, I guess your right about that, so its basically a double edged sword...lets just hope they have strong security against it, I'm sure if anything like that every happens though we can just turn off all P2P options and maybe if people really have an issue with Telemetry Microsoft can always just update Windows to let people disable it.

I'm enjoying the botnet

I installed this on the surface, it's a downgrade in my opinion when it comes to the touch/tablet experience. Everything else is fine. I love Corntana lol.

a theory
A lot of conspiracy theories revolve around the ability to cover up any sort of leak, especially with rich entities, and this one is no exception. Things are leaked all the time, from bigger and more important places too. Valuable government documents and source codes are leaked more than often.
But even if Microsoft's data could be collected, to what use is it? That mandatory disclosure picture you keep posting deliberately leaves out the fact that it's specifically for court orders and protection of privacy. You make it appear like it is collected at all times or one a whim, despite being very limited. It's not a scam, it's cooperation with law enforcement and a means to protect you and themselves. Even if it was, it is never put to use as so that anything but a bot or probably an investigator will see. And I really don't care about that.

To continue to post that image, specifically cutting it off before the prerequisites of such data collection, is not very honest. With the full context, it sounds like something they are required to put stating how they work with legal suits and fraud, not another batch they collect at will.

I suppose this is just preference. No matter what, Windows 10 will get some data, although with security settings at minimum (and no involvement in fraud) it is literally nothing but system performance. Just error reporting and data used to help keep your system running. And no matter what data they collect, it is basically impossible for a personal human eye to see it.

To your earlier point about police cameras, think of it this way:
With security settings on minimum, they only have one camera, and it's pointed at your electric meter. If you're okay with that in exchange for a house filled with cool futuristic stuff, than you should be good with 10.
