if you need mods, i can help

Does the new developmental website tell in-game players that a new update is available yet? Or do I have to notify users via the forums of updated content?

Big problem going on, I updated my vehicles, but no one got notified about it in-game at all to update them.

Sorry for my inactivity; among finals, work, and graduation, this has taken a bit of a backseat. I'll have some free time again starting in June. Thank you everyone for the bug reports and suggestions, they've been noted.

Shouldn't they require at least two reviews?
The new system is putting more faith in the individual reviewers instead of a group system.

I believe I've fixed the issue, but if it's still occurring, let me know.

This happens every time I start Blockland (which, as a result of making vehicles, is very frequently):

Starting client authentication...
Engine initialized...

Updater query repository http://bl.zeblote.com/repository.json
Updater query repository http://api.blocklandglass.com/api/2/repository.php

(there is a pause of about 10 seconds at this point)

Is this pause typical?

Also, I'm still not getting any notifications about updates to Night_Hawk's or Filipe's vehicles.

The pause would be related to Support_Updater.

If you could go through your config/common/updater/cache/ folder and find the file that includes "Blockland Glass Generated Repo" and upload that, I could try to see if there's an issue

Can I get rid of support_updater? Is it redundant?

No, you cannot. However, that pause does not delay your game startup in any way. The pause is because it's waiting for certain repositories to respond. However, Blockland will continue doing other things while it's waiting. There is no reason to worry about that and you can do whatever you want while it waits for the repository to respond.

Blockland is completely unresponsive for those ten seconds.

how can you be a reviewer
If you upload a few add-ons a button will appear for you to apply.

Blockland is completely unresponsive for those ten seconds.

Is this a dedicated server? If so, that is by design. That way the updates are completed before the server starts, so that a restart is not required.

If this is NOT a dedicated server, then that hang is caused by something else, not Support_Updater.

No, it's my game. I'm stuck on the main menu for ten seconds. If I'm quick, I can click "Start Game" and then it freezes on that screen instead, nice change of scenery.

Out of curiosity, I moved support_updater out of my add-ons folder. The pause disappeared. Of course, Glass thought I had lost my mind, and I couldn't decline to redownload the updater, so I moved Glass too, and all of a sudden I can get in-game ten seconds quicker than usual.

I downloaded Glass from the website, no pause... I let it download the updater, restarted the game, the menu appears, and everything freezes. Ten seconds later, control is returned.

So, yes, it's absolutely related to the updater. I'm not stupid, Greek.

If it still has any effect on how you think of me, I'm sorry for once reacting very harshly to a Christmas greeting appearing while starting Blockland. It freaked me out. I didn't expect to see an enormous .jpeg unless I put it there. Reminded me of dreams about computer viruses.

Ok, I'm a little stupid. I made a new Blockland folder, put the basics in, and was putting add-ons back in, restarting with no pauses, developing the intention of saying "well I guess it works now *shrug*" but after restoring the last batch of add-ons, the pause has returned. I'll try to figure out what's doing this.

Interesting. Since I can't replicate this, I'm going to need you to give me some more information. Please enter this into your console:

Code: [Select]
$Updater::RepoQueryOptions.debug=true;$Updater::RepoQueryOptions.printErrors=true;updater.checkForUpdates();
This will run an update check again. During that time, move your mouse around continually and remember the point where the mouse freezes. Then close Blockland and open your console.log file. Put a note in the file at the point where the game froze. Then upload the *complete* file.

So, yes, it's absolutely related to the updater. I'm not stupid, Greek.

Relax, buddy. Nothing I said was offensive - I just assumed that the problem wasn't my mod since you didn't provide any information that would lead me to believe that. The log messages you showed are a normal consequence of repository servers (which are out of my control) being slow to respond. That indicated to me that the program hang was caused by something else.

Yeah, I didn't remember that at all until you brought it up. You're getting really worked up over nothing here. You're just another person to me and I really don't worry about people on the internet at all.

Edit: Apparently you edited your post as I was typing:

Let us know when you find the culprit.

You're getting really worked up over nothing here.
Sounds like me.

Well, the pause just gets bigger depending on how many add-ons are in there. Nothing specific seems to be interfering.

I added the word "Pause" in the relevant spot.
