Author Topic: 14 year-old makes home-made clock, arrested for 'bringing a bomb to school'  (Read 38295 times)

EDIT:I mean you can choose whether or not to look like a black-trenchcoat wearing Klebold but you can't exactly choose to have brown skin, be Muslim, or have the name "Mohammed," can you?
i was just pandering to he who can't see past racial stereotypes
if it looks like it could be a bomb, people will think it's a bomb right away. if you're called to the principal's office or more due to little communication, that's due to the teacher who isn't putting a lot of reason into the situation. the point is that no matter your color, if you had gone to his school with that same clock, the same thing would've happened.

For record, in such a scenario I doubt most of would be able to identify a bomb just by looking at something for a second.

"HURR HURR THE LIBERAL MEDIA"

Implying that's not an unbiased account of exactly what happened
Who said anything about liberals?

maxx... read the thread, all right?

this video has been posted 3 times and all it proves is that he's not a genius, which none of us believed in the first place

For record, in such a scenario I doubt most of would be able to identify a bomb just by looking at something for a second.
But that's not the scenario we're talking about. The kid showed it to his teachers and told them that it was a clock. There were no split-second decisions being made here. They decided to call the cops on him by their own conscious accord.

i can prove  you all wrong
But nobody here is claiming that he's a genius or even accomplished a particularly impressive feat of engineering?

I don't know whether to call that attacking a strawman or just not reading anything. Either way you're missing the point.

so this kid took apart an alarm clock, mashed it into a very explody looking suitcase, brought it to his school and showed it to his teacher, who told him to put it away..
and then the loving alarm clock he took apart just happens to go off during class(why the forget would it be set to go off during class?) and he gets arrested for a bomb hoax? what am i missing here, it seems like this kid just wanted to cause uproar lol

What a very fitting name you have there.

All I'm going to say is he should have chosen a better container for his 'homemade clock' (which is most likely just him putting the parts in another container)

what am i missing here

um his name was AHMED and he is BROWN. loving tribal

Well, I'm not gonna lie. That stuff looks like a bomb, and even if this kid was as white as Rebdomine I'd have been pretty sketch as a teacher. I'm not saying that they were in the right here, but that kid should not have brought that motherforgeter to school. Like I'm unsure how that one slipped through the cracks and nobody said "hey, don't bring that to school." As far as "bombs count down not up" goes, plenty of bombs are rigged to go off at a certain time rather than a countdown.

Yeah not all bombs are countdown movie bombs
They could just be set to go off at a certain time

that's a pretty ugly looking clock

Why would some bomber put a clock on the face of his bomb then? He couldn't just use a watch or check the time some other way? Surely if this mythical terrorist was taking steps to differentiate his machine from the stereotypical "bomb" he would avoid the "clock on the face" trope

well if he wanted to be able to play it off as a clock, he'd probably want a clock face that counts up
