is there a canon explanation for why *spoilers* sans can't just fill the entire screen with bones and kill you right away like he does when you spare him *spoilers*

is there a canon explanation for why -snip-

I think it's supposed to be that [[according to logic, he can't attack you like that before because you're just not vulnerable enough to be killed with one fell swoop. When you spare him Frisk is emotional and he takes that weak point and uses it to kill you.]]

[He can only do that when you try sparing him because your guard is down]

[apparently you're hugging him in that time so bam, ur forgetd]

[yep, whenever you attack a monster that's sparing you/is waiting to be spared, it's always an instant kill. apparently it goes both ways.]

[according to canon, though, only monster souls are driven by emotion. it's specifically stated in the snowdin library that monster souls are weak enough to be destroyed if the attacker's willpower overpowers the victim, but human souls are tougher. it's probably just for the sake of the plot but it's probably reasonable that frisk just has his guard down. i'm pretty sure that sans requests you put your weapon down? if i'm remembering right, then it would just be a gameplay simulation of being totally unable to defend yourself and simultaneously opening yourself up to someone that is trying to kill you]

If you're having trouble with Undyne...

spoilers mate

You didn't make it any less obvious, just a lot dumber.

Not that it really matters. This thread is littered with spoilers whether or not someone uses invisible font every now and then. Coming in here without having finished the game is a terrible idea.

[spoiler???]part of me hopes gaster adds up to being a cool elaborate secret easter egg. otherwise it just reinforces the idea that toby fox is a meme[/spoiler]
