is this a thing in america
holy stuff you guys are forgeted up.

do you have to greet everyone you see with the american anthem or you'll be detained?
No. There are no legal ramifications for not participating in the pledge or the anthem. One of the great things about America.

Except if your teacher forces you or punishes you for not doing it. Some do that.
They can't do that tho?

They can't do that tho?
Well, they can, but if they do you can talk with your principal or school board who I assure you will do everything in their power to stop you from suing the school.
Depends what state and town.
Nope, federal cases put this to bed years ago. Can't legally happen anywhere in the US.

Yeah, then no, teachers can't legally compel you to say the pledge or even stand up and "salute" the flag.

Yeah, man
forget patriotism
Its not patriotism. The pledge was created to sell magazines to schools. Only reason it became a widespread tradition was because of how scared stuffless everyone was about the godless commies.

Also, fun fact of the day: It was written by a Christian socialist, Francis Bellamy. And the group that mostly defends the pledge? Conservative Republicans, who probably would rather be branded fascists than socialists.

Welcome to America! Where your rights are being drained away and you have to become a flag saluting drone!

Isn't that a fun place to live?

Name a right we had a hundred years ago that we don't have today.

I mean the school I go to (Which is in America), we dont have to do it. Only during serious events.

Im an american citizen who goes to an american school, and I don't have to sell my soul to a flag every day. I should have clarified that more, my bad.
