it's actually interesting to see people's different thoughts on this. granted, most people on the forum live in the US, so there will be more pro-gun forumers than anti-gun. it's cool seeing points being brought up that i haven't thought of before

At least you're being open minded about it. A lot of people out of country can really only see through a set of bias-goggles. You have to remember where and when these things take place at and what country you're studying the issue in.

I think the main reason people are disagreeing is because most of the people posting arnt from the US and don't relise what good a gun can be used for, and I can see where they're coming from, but last night only 14 people died. In paris where guns aren't allowed hundreds died

i just don't see how people could rationalize that citizens would me safer if there was a gun ban. i mean there would simply be a work around as with all other things that are banned/illegal, so why not at least let citizens have the opportunity to defend themselves with their own weapon?

>Only 14 people

And I really hate the comparison of knives to guns
guns are meant to kill nothing else. knives have general purposes

I'm not meaning to de-value lives, its just it could have been alot worse. And guns may be designed to kill, but they're not designed for murder, Guns can be used for Self Defence, Hunting and Hobbies,  I don't know about any one else here, but one year ago when there was a man walking around my house with a knife in his pocket, banging on all the walls and breaking windows. My gun made me feel a lot safer. And before any one says some thing stupid like "Call the cops" or "Did you shoot him?". No I didn't shoot him we would run back into the woods before we could run outside. And we live in a rural area where the cops literaly told us "we can't run out to your house 5 times a night, We see you have a gun permit.... shoot him." Not kidding the police around here suck, we called them because we found a pill bottle under the drug dealers spot across the road. They never came.

still don't get how people fail to realize that the guns(and the mags) used in the cali shooting were considered illegal in that state. If you ban the weapons, criminals will still find a way while the law-abiding citizens are left with an inferior means of protection

I'm pretty sure I shot targets last weekend, not a person or animal.
also, you can't tell me that the first knives weren't used to assist in killing other humans

The guns used in the shooting were purchased legally actually

Also sure you can shoot targets but still they were designed to kill
And maybe knives were originally used to assist in killing other humans but today knives have a lot of other purposes so

I am American, and I am of the opinion that there should be less guns. Less violent weapons, less violence.

less violent weapons, less ways to defend yourself from people who will get violent weapons anyway

I do not believe, however, that citizens need access to full automatic weapons. Those firearms should be exclusive to the military.

and, according to statistics, more victims

Also sure you can shoot targets but still they were designed to kill

I'm shooting targets, better take my guns away until further notice! They're designed to kill after all, we don't want those guns murdering anyone!

But seriously if that's not what are you're getting at when you're telling me guns are designed to kill then I don't what your point is

I hear CNN for 9 hours every day I'm at work, I know, anyone who pays attention to the news on this tragedy knows. That doesn't change my point that the ban didn't stop the criminals.

You're going to have to expand on "automatic". You have fully automatic weapons then you have semi-auto weapons. Semi auto allows you to only fire as fast as you can pull your trigger. I'm not for banning semi-automatic weapons, i think thats dumb.

sorry, i meant fully automatic lol

So I'm not entitled to my MG42? :c

Great news, they're already near impossible for civilians to really get their hands on without a class III FFL and a stuff ton of paperwork. I don't think we need fully automatic weapons either. Though i do admit i occasionally indulge in a bump-fire stock every so often, which is already a work around to the whole full auto fiasco.

I don't really see how you managed to get an intact one into the states without customs ripping it apart and disabling its action. But i'm assuming you're joking.
