You're still not telling me why it's wrong though. I'm saying it's right because it is the effort of the parent to give the best advice to their children to set them up best for life in the best way they see possible. Also, I know next to nothing about Buddhism, so forgive me.

I guess there really isn't any way around that. I advocate neutrality in advice - even if you feel and believe something is true, no matter your faith - if it is unsubstantiated, do not preach it. Which is why I'm not trying to convince anyone there is no God, because I don't really know for sure. I just want children starting from a blank slate.
But there's no stopping some parents, I suppose.
