You said this before, I'm convinced becoming flippant is your defense mechanism when you can't think of any better responses. I'm not wrong, imagining scenarios where you can legally murder people for doing something that makes you irrationally angry is textbook power fantasy.
^ Complete bullstuff
Me being flippant to begin with is what allows me to say stuff like "as fun as it would be" without being remorseful about it afterward. I mean, I personally wouldn't blow anyone's brains out over a statue because, for one, I don't think it'd be worth it, and two, seeing a statue get destroyed doesn't make me irrationally angry. I've already said this multiple times but I defend these statues because not doing so sets a precedent that's already being abused in New York to possibly get Grant statues taken down and JFK streets renamed and all kinds over other roosteramamie bullstuff. I don't care if some chuckleforgets knock down a statue, what matters is that they're held accountable for it so others don't get any ideas.
I mean really, just because I play devil's advocate on these issues doesn't mean I'm down for shooting people myself, get real. I even said in one of these posts that it's obviously not something that can really be implemented for obvious reasons, but I understand the spirit behind it.
literally the same argument for internet surveillance or not needing search warrants.
Makes sense in context, to be fair
