There kind of isn't. If you allow exceptions for illegals then you might as well just open your borders because you're just going to get illegals that make sure they qualify for that exception, which defeats the purpose of having immigration laws against illegal entry in the first place. Honestly if we give amnesty to every single "dreamer" we're gonna have some Prince of Egypt type stuff where people float their children down the river and we take them in and treat them like royalty or some bullstuff.

you know, you're pretty right on that imo, and that's why it'd be a whole lot better if congress were able to finally fix some things about the laws instead of presidents using what little authority they have over immigration to try and fix things by slapping things like that on in lieu of congressional action

God forbid someone comes here, works for their entire life, without qualifying for social programs and committing no crimes, and then gets citizenship for it. Our country would literally fall apart if people just came in by the thousands and acted like model citizens to exploit a weak immigration policy.

It's not too inappropriate in the context of DACA. They were brought by their parents, not by their own volition, and since literally 0% of them have committed felonies, they literally have cleaner rap sheets than plenty of people who are naturalized citizens of the US.

I agree with this sentiment. Whether we like to admit it or not, our trade policies devastated agricultural communities close to the US-Mexico border, causing plenty of Mexico campesinos to choose between starvation/abject poverty, or emigrate illegally to the United States to keep their families fed and safe. In my mind, choosing the latter is a moral decision and one that literally everyone in this thread would make given the same set of circumstances and choices.
