its both justified and unfair though: if too much opportunities existed for rural people urban players would complain, or the rural areas will suddenly get a lot of passerby/visitors from nearby cities all of a sudden, which probably would be unwanted. not really much you can do there.

i feel like they do a good job of equipping every major town/city though with pokestops and gyms and random spawns, so its a matter of getting an opportunity to go there to explore

I believe if enough people ask Niantic they will place a pokestop at certain spots, like iunno Wyoming which is the least populated state, people who live in like tiny towns could probably team up to request.

all pokestops are based on the Ingress portals. Ingress players submitted locations they wanted to become portals (which were reused as Pokestops) for a time until the requests became too much and they stopped taking requests. the rest are automatically generated by google maps. yesterday i believe roughly 48 million players were trying to log in at once, so i dont think they'll be accepting pokestop requests any time soon.

Exactly, I live in a rural area, and there's absolutely no fun.

I don't understand.. the best thing about this game is hunting, shouldn't we hunt in the countryside instead?
