Author Topic: [NEWS] Military coup in Turkey fails  (Read 13563 times)

the military is generally conservative
the military still might stage a coup if Annoying Orange makes poor choices
people follow Annoying Orange because of what solutions he proposes, but that doesn't mean they'll still follow him if he causes an economic disaster and starts purging competition

does the US constitution even say anything about coups?

you guys are forgetting that idiots will always follow their leader, regardless of what their leader does

not that all conservatives are idiots, but the far left and the far right have a lot in common.

not that conservatism is a far right concept.

a coup would never happen in the US don't be dumb

also just incase anybody says anything about it;

so what happens if this was a staged coup by erdogan?
Erdogan now has a good reason to crack down even further on the turkish military, ensuring that nobody can stop him from creating an islamic dictatorship, which is the opposite of what Ataturk wanted.

does the US constitution even say anything about coups?
that's one of the loopholes the confederate states tried to exploit, but rebellions and coups are by their very essence considered treasonous

does the US constitution even say anything about coups?
Well the first part of the second amendment states that a militia has the right to be formed (under certain conditions) but strictly for coups? I would say that would be what Jairo said: Treasonous.

god damn that's crazy

Gülen says that Erdogan may have staged the coup against his regime. Jairo and TristanBomb guessed this before him by about 16 hours, so he clearly walks among us.

Or maybe Erdogan is just too incompetent to convincingly do a false-flag operation in his own country...

apparently erdogay is threatening war with the usa

the more I look at this coup, the more it looks like a false flag

not only did coup forces attack at a strange hour (near midnight), a strange time (the head of state they were trying to overthrow was on vacation away from where the coup was happening, so they couldn't capture him), and a strange way (they announced on television a coup was underway and told civilians to stay indoors. if you're performing a coup, most of the time, you don't let anyone else know until it's already over), they also attacked in an incredibly reserved and piecemeal fashion.

I can understand not firing on the people you're trying to protect, but why would so little soldiers take part in this coup? and in such a strange frontline with such disorganized motives? turkey is a historically militant nation which takes pride in its army (something like ~60% of its military is made up of volunteers/conscripts), so for so little to take part (around 2000 or so) is nothing short of suspicious. for reference, the number of soldiers involved in the coup accounts for roughly 0.6% of turkey's total military size--clearly not enough to successfully carry out a coup and thus begging the question why they even bothered to try in the first place.

to me, this was a reichstag fire by erdogan to attain emergency powers. and by god did it work

PeCIAtratos? That's the bust of Pericles; he was a Greek general, thus the Corinthian helmet. And then, I'd think PeCIAtratos is much more respectable than Erdogan anyway.
