They don't, but they happen when people are pissed. It doesn't mean we should make them legal and it doesn't mean we shouldn't arrest the rioters. But sometimes people riot because there are actual social issues that need to be fixed. Hence the Civil Rights Movement.

They aren't justifiable. The people whose stuff gets broken are pretty much never complicit in the problems that people are rioting about. But to discount an entire movement because of riots would be the same as discounting the Civil Rights Movement or the American Revolution.

Remember in Milwaukee a black officer shot a black criminal because the black criminal had a stolen handgun and was shooting the stolen handgun and pointed the stolen handgun at a cop.

Then they people burned down Milwaukee and started screaming "kill whitey"

Hence the Civil Rights Movement.

Pretty sure MLK wouldn't ask his brothers and sisters to "kill whitey" because a black cop shot a black criminal.

He wouldn't do that even if the officer were white.

Well that's not true at all. In this situation obviously not, but take the LA riots for example. The consequences of those were state-wide, even country-wide political changes for the better. Sometimes violence and civil unrest is the only way average people like you and I can make our voices heard.

I'm like 99% sure that "kill whitey" got tossed around plenty during the Civil Rights Movement. Not necessarily by MLK's camp, but by protestors in general.
