i mean he kind of has a point. what's the purpose of having a "too old" limit if it can easily be overrode?

its because smf is garbage

you're not wrong, but the exploit is useful and hasn't really been abused. the criteria for using it are also somewhat restrictive, you have to have the last post in the thread. it's not the same as having no too old limit at all because if there were no limit, anyone could bump any thread from any period in time.

grrrrrrr those forgetin furries make my skin crawl!

Why are you doing GRIMLOCK_ impressions?

But  they are exploiting the rule put in place to not bump old ass topics by bypassing the stuffty SMF code.

where's that rule at, pusillanimous individual Boy Tony?

yeah they are. seems like most people think it's nice to have tho. badspot sometimes necros topics on demand but he isn't gonna want to play necromancer for every dumb megathread that accidentally died and suddenly has news or every add-on post that needs an update. as long as it isn't being used maliciously i don't think it's an exploit that's super important to fix, and in principle i don't see anything wrong with it. the reason bumping old topics is a problem on forums is because people use it to bring old topics back to life just for the heck of it, but afaik that's not the widespread application of this weird smf exploit

even if badspot gave a single stuff about someone bumping an old topic to contribute relevant, new information, he aint gonna dedicate the time to fix the bug in some forum software he is in all likelihood not familiar with the intricacies of. if you really have a problem with it pusillanimous individual Boy Tony, why not report the supposedly offending post?

Hey, remember when conan preformed a seven-year bump?
it was 9 years: post was in 2008 lol

if this was off topic tony would have locked the topic by now

Even if the exploit wasn't there people can just ask Badspot to bump topics, it has been done before when the last poster couldn't be gotten a hold of.

am i the only person that thought those were some cheeks for a brief second in the op or
no
but yeah I like this and as long as it isn't abused I don't care. There's plenty of abuse of it, sure, but I don't think the bug should be fixed.

It was on the first page, not much of a bump.
who gives a stuff
you bumped the thread for a stupid reason
