Author Topic: Brick Physics Preview  (Read 108678 times)

Now we officially are better than ROBLOX
1. Don't start this stuff

2. you cannot interact with these bricks(i.e stand on them)

Just wondering, are they made in the same physics manner that the vehicles are made?

No, the vehicles have their own physics. Maybe some future update will make them use the same physics engine the bricks do.

Can I take a guess that V13 will have server sided brick physics?

Good Jesus stuff!
I never knew this was possible!
Great work to whomever deserves it.
I never knew a lot of things were possible in BL.

Holy stuff.. Lets hope that deighton friend will shoot himselft after seeing that.

Would it be possible to have the client send a message to the server when a brick lands on it's player, so that it could be tied into events and scripts?(i.e someone could make a "certain size bricks kill you" script, and for events it could then send a message to the actual brick for events(brick dies>lands on you>event in brick is triggered))

Also, I would hope that the update come out first, then extra features to the physics come out along with future updates. Just my two cents.

The physics bricks work exactly like fake-dead bricks.

In your copy of Blockland, v10 do this. Go run a server, get a rocket launcher, shoot a wall made of bricks. The bricks fall down. After a while they will reappear.

In v11, it will work exactly like that, except that instead of the bricks falling through the floor/each other, they are physically simulated. The delay before they reappear is also longer. The events and everything are exactly the same.

There won't be any events for when a fakedead brick touches something, because the server doesn't know about what bricks do when they are fakedead, just the clients. (And they don't agree.) You won't die from a brick falling on you, it will just bounce off you in a realistic manner.

If you wanted to have e.g. a fatal rock slide, you could fake kill some bricks so they fall down and look cool, and also shoot an invisible projectile to kill the player. Or even schedule it so it directly kills the player who triggered it after a short delay.

Yes, you can push them around, move them with explosions, other bricks move them, etc. The player and vehicles will move them but cannot stand on them or use them to climb cliffs or things like this.

ok this answers most, MOST, of my questions. but if i set the brick respawn time to like 999 in a minigame, can i build over the location where the brick was, and will this be applied to bricks that actually die, or just fake killed bricks.
thank you for our patience.

It's the exact same as it is now. fakeKilledBricks still exist. You can build ontop of them, but overlap errors will still happen if you try to build inside it.

I just shat bricks.

Also, how's that hole of yours coming, kompressor?

MY HEAD FEELS FUNNY BECAUSE AWESOME LEVELS ARE REACHING MAXIMUM

Those roblox friends had better shape up now >:U

I think he found gold in his hole.

Sweet loving jesus. This'll be very epic.

Are builds going to be able to topple over?

In theory, but it wouldn't be secure or reliable. ie people would cheat and it wouldn't always work.

For the minigame brick respawn - try it out. It will work just the same but look cooler.

Not sure about truly dead bricks. Fake killed bricks for sure.

Additionally: My hole is deep and warm. I like my hole.

I found brick physics in your hole
