Author Topic: Minecraft Megathread; yeah its update 1.12 big whoop what about it  (Read 7253495 times)

kind of neat effect
but then the items look a bit strange on it

the mac edition of the minecraft launcher is really aggressive when it comes to keeping its windows open

it refuses to be hidden, and will even prevent a computer shutdown if you accidentally leave it open like i did

you can still quit it normally though which is nice

so yeah

can we get a factions server or something pls

strange, updated java for something and then MC no longer wanted to launch with 8GB, saying it exceeded the max possible
so I proceed to lower it to 4GB, still too large, then 2GB, unable to allocate that much memory, and only works with 1GB
You can always try to force Java to use 64bit by using -d64

Slight advertisement but I started up a new server and spent the past two weeks getting everything just right :)

IP is mc.playreef.us if you'd like to come check it out :^)

literally every minecraft server on planetminecraft is a loving faction pvp or some stuffty "vanilla" server that gives you full iron armor and stone tools or something handicapped like that.

This

I miss the true Vanilla servers where you start fresh and go from there. Plus with the addition of Factions and PVP, and that's it.

I miss those servers, now everything these days are stuff ;c

the problem with vanilla servers is that
  • the server owner cannot make money from the server to pay for server costs.
  • gets very little attention from the current minecraft community.
  • a good amount of the minecraft community are children and will not want to spend hours gathering materials.
  • for a "true vanilla" experience, the owner has to disable any property protection plugins. griefing will be possible.
  • any actual vanilla servers are passworded/whitelisted and need either applications or you to be related to another player or admin.

currently working on getting a mostly vanilla server up and running again

it has a few non-vanilla things, like /home and /warp, but those can be ignored by those who don't wish to use them, and don't change it too much
factions plugin is there for protecting land, less for actual wars between factions (but can be that way if both parties want it)
currently adding in hand-built dungeons that may have loot in them, nothing to unbalance vanilla, but just as an interesting thing to do as a player
and also had a plugin for multiple worlds + spleef and shenanigans

Just realised our lord and saviour Dropshock has not emerged from his grotto to announce update 1.10.

that must mean that 1.10 wasn't a real update

did anybody actually message him about it?

well to be honest "polar bears" wasn't much of a changelog
