Does installing a mod basically mean I have to open up the minecraft.jar file and paste it into it, then make it jar again?
I am trying to install toomanyitems and the tutorial on installing was confusing because it was way to silly.

Close minecraft, if its open.
Goto jar, (windows key + r, %appdata%/.minecraft/bin)
Right click and open in a program like 7zip or winrar.
Open toomanyitems ZIP, highlight and drag the files inside (readme.txt optional) of the .jar.
Delete META-INF folder
Close window
Run minecraft
??? Profit.

You guys should try the following world seed that I found:
Don't fear the reaper.

Include the spaces and the period.
You'll likely start out in a desert biome, but explore the nearby caves, there's a coal vein which yields a whopping 79 coal.  It's a great world.

Herobrine lives in the cave.
