I'm thinking of making an adventure map. You start off in a huge ass desert with a few chests containing few goods from a plane crash. You have to find the military base in the desert that shot your plane down, and the back story to why they did it. When it's finished I will need testers.

Does anybody know how what program I can use to make the huge desert?

There is a map maker that is supposed to be very good at making custom things like that, not sure what it's called so search around a bit.

if I use a texture pack that doesn't have textures for a mod that I have does the mod just use it's own textures? Or do the textures not show up.
