all I've pretty much done for my texture pack right now is new stone (and some ores), tiny edit to cobblestone that is only noticeable ingame, new wood, new bedrock, and new obsidian

Unless the goats were rams. And they only spawned in mountain biomes. And they are peaceful until you attack. And when you attack they ram into you, possibly knocking you off a cliff in the mountain biome.
