How do I make obsidian if I have a bucket of lava and a bucket of water?

pour the water over a lava source block (flowing lava will make cobblestone. or that's how I remembered it by.

no you can not. only diamond will work.

actully anything will work but Diamond is the only one to get the Obsidian block.

i tried it i spawned in a dungeon and died over and over again....
