oh I hope he bans for this more
forget i've done that like 3 times

I'm sorry, but the survival aspect of this game is really bad.  Don't get me wrong, I liked it since survival test but once I realized how bad the "surviving" is I couldn't shake the feeling.

Monsters are weak and just annoying and not challenging at all, and instead of proper difficulty, all the devs did is increase the damage mobs do (which is extremely lazy).

You would think after 3 years they would attempt to fix the combat but instead they just added blocking and fixing the bow (which shouldn't have been so broken in the first place.)

Not saying this is a bad game, at all.

sorry but the blocking and bow tweaks were not meant to do anything but enhance the combat.
nothing about the monsters or challenge

Mobs are not the issue. The issue is that you can live infinitely off a dirt hut and 1 square of water.

thirst would be a cool component, as well as the unpredictability of seasons and temperature.
suppose you're in a frozen forest and without your leather armor on, you begin moving slower and doing everything slower until you die
or out on a blazing desert with heavy diamond armor on and no water to drink
ded

The one GameChap video that isn't annoying
is this some sort of joke

Someone found Insurrection's "The survival part of the game is bad on a fundamental level" I see?

Basically everything he says in that is totally legit though

Changing difficulty to make the gameplay different on higher difficulties would be a big change - as you have to adapt your survival strategy when changing to a higher difficulty.

Moving difficulty selection out of the options and into world creation makes perfect sense - nothing to do with "waah waah player choice" or anything like that should even come into it. The difficulty is one of the components of the gameplay, and it effects the core mechanics of the world around the player, thus it should not be changeable in-game at all. It should be selected alongside the world type and gamemode because it is a part of those options.

Something else that bugs me, not related to it being easy, is the linearity of it. Oh but it's an open world game, you say? It sure is. But what is there to actually do? There is an objective end-point to your potential progression, a point where you have items which are just straight up better than anything else and there's no point in straying from those items. The point he raised about Smart Moving and armor weight is pretty much perfect. Something else I'd like to see is food not just being a case of "stockpile bread" - as you eat a food more often it should diminish the hunger restoration to force you to have different kinds of food, and refining food into better meals should make the restored hunger diminish slower to encourage people to do more than just eat it as it comes, and meals having other effects allowing people with access to different resources to have different bonuses based on that - a well-prepared fish meal bestowing faster swim speeds and longer breath time, something prepared from a food found underground increasing mining speed, stuff like that. If nothing else just having some variety so I can feel good about having a berry pie or sandwich now and again instead of living on porkchops and cake (which is admittedly pretty awesome)

I could keep typing for hours this stuff just flows

eating candied spider eyes gives you better vision in darkness

eating candied spider eyes gives you better vision in darkness
Is that an awesome idea or does that happen holy stuff
I don't even know because see I wouldn't have thought to do that since there's no premise of anything else doing anything like that, which is I think another point raised (lack of any actual guidance or hinting at what to actually do outside the wiki)

E: Oh okay it's an idea
Yeah I like that one

Would anyone like to play on a small survival server with Inficraft (Base/Orizon/Flora/Tools and Tool Hybrids, for variety), Smart Moving, Backpacks, and Redpower (Wiring/Logic, because normal redstone sucks and everything else feels overcomplex for Minecraft)?
The idea is an enhanced vanilla style, any rules would boil down to "Don't be an starfish" - theft and breaking stuff is fine, just don't pick excessively on people or leave a huge mess

Is there any demand for this sort of thing
Because I practically have it ready but I dunno if anyone wants something like that

This is my kind of server. Count me in!

Anyone is able to script for a ModLoader block pack that won't include that much difficult things?

Why not just do it yourself using the block tutorials? It's basically copy and paste.

Why not just do it yourself using the block tutorials? It's basically copy and paste.

Everything is too confusing.

And I mean it.

TOO confusing, and no one is actually explaining anything and everyone hopes I know the basics first, but I don't even know what version of Eclipse to use, and no tutorial covers that either.

The whole MCP recompilation and packaging thing is also practically undocumented everywhere
It's like "just reobf and recompile and go for it" but nothing tells you how to package your mod so modloaders will actually load it or anything or if there's any way to develop your code as a separate eclipse project rather than having to sift through the entire minecraft src package

It's basically just terrible, the actual coding is easy but the build systems and packaging are a bitch and nothing tells you stuff all about it
