I just wanted to point out, one thing mod packs like Tekkit do is interlace mods. They don't just overlay them, they make them compatible. Tekkit has two different kinds of copper, but both can be used to make things from their respective mods interchangeably. That's why I like them, personally. Of course it isn't a very stable reason, but it's one thing I like since whenever I try to mod Minecraft something really weird snags and I give up.

little help here?
I installed MCForge, and now I can't install other mods for it, or rather I tried and it just won't work.
Installed it in the mods directory and the coremods directory, mods directory gave me black screen, coremods started game up, nothing is showing up ingame though.

when did you delete meta-inf? before or after installing forge?

Opened up archives with 7-zip, deleted both meta infs, installed, so it was before.

Remove the jar's META-INF then install forge so its META-INF is in the jar

Also make sure you're using the right Forge version: 6.0 is for 1.4.2, 6.2 is for 1.4.3, 6.3 is for 1.4.4
