This still bugs the loving stuff out of me. Horses should be as common as any other animal.

I agree, but for the current moment, I'm ok with the requirement for golden apples/carrots. It's not like it's too hard to make those.

The don't use it if you don't like it argument is complete bullstuff in multiplayer games.
If I don't use horses in a multiplayer world I'm forgeted because everyone else is using them.

Well then stop whining about how it looks and appreciate the fact that they're putting their heart into the updates for us >:(

It's a useful update and I can't think of any real issues with the horses that can't be fixed in a later update.

If horses DID spawn in villages, they would probably be donkeys rather than horses.

obviously, it's because they worked with the guy who made that mod and improved it. they're a working team, whereas mozark was just one guy.

Spent two golden apples on two horses just to get a horse with one extra heart.

Oh, and you forgot a few things but..

 - The health slowly recharges, and given the heart count on most horses already, armor is useless unless you plan on using it in multiplayer against another player with a horse.

 - Armor and saddle are only found in dungeons..

 - Does NOT have knees, although I would have been fine with them given they are supposed to be a horse.

So THAT'S why I couldn't craft a saddle anymore. :(

I don't think so, my horses stayed tied to the fence for a while when I was building and the leads never broke
